Read moreMy experience at Tahir Guest House is a typical example of Äll that glitters is not gold"|My team and I had earlier made reservations via mail to the manager Mr. Muhammed for 4, who acknowledged and we were confirmed to arrive. |At the risk of repeating my ordeal, I will paraphrase.. but I have got evidence that these guys lack integrity, loyalty, and sympathy.|On arrival after a late-night flight, we thought all that was going to welcome us was a warm smile and a bed. Our calabash of hopes was broken when we were told by the unwelcoming reception to give way as he was busy with other things. We stood still and watch him allocate rooms to all who came after us and even passengers we saw on the flight. The next thing he came up with was that we have to share a room or two max as they do not have any rooms for us. |Astonished by this, we asked to see management and he said he was in direct communication with the manager and so it did not matter. |He eventually gave out the rooms and let us to the prey of the night. At a time when insecurity was at its peak, we had to search for rooms in Kano late at night (1:30 am)|Did I mention that the manager asked them to get a next-door substandard hotel for the same price so they can give a cut-off from the aforementioned price? Yes, we heard all the conversations. ||The least they could have done was to communicate about any changes so we make alternative plans, but no. They did not. Neither did we ever get an apology for the ill-treatment received. We set out for the cold and sad perils of the night without any security. ||long story short, I do not know the people who say their experiences there have been great, but mine... nah nah nah. It kept me wondering, "How can one build such an establishment with so much aesthetics and lack the basis on people management nor quality staffing... in hospitality for that matter. An industry whose name is denoted by quality, empathy, dignity, integrity, and poise?'...
Read moreThe things I liked about the hotel were the following: I was actually not expecting to see what I saw, when I got to the entrance. The hotel in Kano definitely gets a thumbs up for trying to deliver a luxury hotel experience. The different things available on site were fantastic to see. There's a pharmacy, an ice cream shop, a barber shop, a pool, a spa, a salon, a gym, a play area for kids and three different restaurants within the hotel premises. Wow wow wow. I loved the size of my room. I was glad it wasn't on the ground floor. One of the kitchen restaurants was open so late I got to eat dinner by almost midnight which I was very happy about. The WiFi was really good. The receptionist, the housekeeping staff and the waiters were all friendly to me.
The things i disliked about the hotel: I was so disappointed that the room I got had a leaking toilet but I realised this so late as I checked in after 11pm. The leak has been there for a while unattended to because I noticed that the leak was causing mould on one part of the wall where water was lingering. The staff have access to the windows by the toilets. I rolled up the blinds and opened the windows to get air into the bathroom and I noticed someone walk past and Dock when I turned around. That's not right at all. Workers shouldn't be able to invade my privacy like that. I might never know who saw me but it shouldn't be able to happen to other guests. The ac remote in the room wasn't working, so I couldn't regulate the temperature of the ac. I had to keep turning it off from the wall. House keeping should leave hangers in wardrobes. Guests shouldn't be requesting for such upon arrival. The food Menus were stained with oil and were left in the room that way. Quite tacky...
