Despite the title, overall I had a very good stay and a pleasant experience. I would easily return if I have the need to be in the Marina area again. ||||The Good: Nice location if you need to be in Marina area and close to VI, Lekki etc...as long as you aren't traveling during rush hour you can get around to these areas fairly quickly. If you get caught in the notorious Lagos traffic it can take over an hour to get somewhere that's literally 10 minutes away. The hotel itself is off Broad Street and a bit difficult to find because it sits on an alley-like side street. Once inside however, the lobby and hotel is self is nicely appointed and clean. Security is tight as there is a guard or two around 24/7. We stayed for close to three weeks so we got to know the hotel well. The staff is friendly and courteous and very helpful for the most part. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed. A little rough around the edges and can use some updates/preventative maintenance/paint here and there but overall, decent. Consistent power with no major outages. Sometimes they switch from generator to national grid but we were never without power for more than 10 minutes. We had steaming hot water and didn't have to wait for it to heat up more than 20 seconds or so. So by Lagos standards, it was great. Wifi was steady and a decent signal. Could not stream video but other web surfing/email was just fine. I had one issue with the connection but someone from "IT" came right up and took care of it.||||The Bad: Room service was SLOOOOW. The food, once you got it was very good but the wait time was horrible. Even when we went down to the restaurant it took a very long time to get food and quite a few times our orders were wrong or mixed up. Staff was easy to work with in order to get things corrected but it's a headache to have to bring up some issue every time you place an order. Also, double check your receipt as we were over charged a couple times. Housekeeping was good but we got sheets that were old and discolored looking a few times. They were that grayish color that white turns to once it has been washed/used too much and just needs to be replaced. We got stuck in the elevator a couple times, but maintenance was prompt to get us out. The "satellite" or cable is poor with only 3-4 channels worth watching. We either had to watch news or Hip TV and a couple of movie channels with no good movies most of the time b/c no other channels came in clearly. ||||The Ugly: ROACHES. Yes, roaches. This was almost a deal breaker for us. When we first checked-in, one of the employees accompanied us to the room we were assigned to, as soon as we opened the door and turned on the lights we saw 4-5 roaches/bugs scattering around on the floor. We immediately raised an issue. The employee went back downstairs and came back with another room key. I was skeptical and considered checking out but we had already paid for the room online and it was late. The 2nd room was clean and we saw no roaches or bugs anywhere or scattering around so we decided to stay. However, a couple nights into our stay I saw one roach crawling on the wall. We called down to complain. The next day the entire hotel was fumigated, so although it was not pleasant I give them credit for getting on top of it. We had to leave the room for a couple hours while they completed the treatment. When we came back someone from housekeeping came and re-cleaned the room. I did see one or two more roaches during our stay but nothing that I would consider an infestation. This is something they should monitor closely if they want to keep guests coming. ||||As I said, overall my stay was good. The atmosphere was pleasant, good customer services and food. I...

One star for the amazing staff and another star just because of the location.

Everything else is zero. The standard room we got was so stuffy, full of mold and unhygienic. I wonder if anyone has been there recently. The washroom made me gag every time I went inside. Dirty and smelly! The AC produces noise instead of cool air. The wifi didn't work and I gave up trying to connect after calling IT support several times without response.

I haven't eaten there but the restaurant looks nice and the food too. It's also cool that they have an elevator and a nice lobby.

But seriously the place is so old and neglected. With such a good location, they...

Beni Hotel is one of top hotels situated in Lagos Island. The price per room is good enough for the standard. The staffs are totally cool and nice. However one of the Elevators has a sensor issue while the other one would not show u what floor you are currently on except you peep at the label on the wall outside the elevator, so one needs to be careful taking the elevators. With a bit of maintenance Beni hotels would go back to its glorious days when you were served newspapers and your shampoo, soap and cream was replaced every morning. My last stay, these were not provided so you shouldn't bank on getting either. The environment is calmer...

The hotel food is amazing but expensive, reception looks good but the rooms are small and not well maintained. The standard room is definitely for one so choose the deluxe if more than one to lodge. The environment the hotel is located looks scary, felt safer in the hotel. They had 24 hours light. The receptionist are not very nice or as helpful as the other staffs in other department. The receptionist tried to rip me off on the first day of arriving at the hotel but apologized later though. Peeling walls...toilet fittings shaking and overly used. Overall experience is....it's a budget hotel for a budget stay.

If you are on a budget this might work for You! As they are starting @6500/night and max at @16000 a night, as for the meal 3000/plate, which isn't very good. Na purge i dey purge since, after a night here I am displeased with the entire service system, Wi-Fi dose not work, tolites don't flush, restaurant is super slow, bad old rug smell!. Well at their prices don't expect much! I really hope they improve( so much potential).
