The Hotel is really answerable to it name as City Center Hotel. The staff are really hospitable. Their food is affordable and yummy. The rooms are excellent for resting.

My key benchmarks for great hotels are toilet and the bed and city centre excels in both. The toilets were spotlessly clean and modern. Highly recommended

THUMBS UP Everything is new and clean Gave me a discount

THUMBS DOWN Getting food in the area is not easy. You have to go to Zoo Road to eat.

WHY I CHOSE… I had a meeting in Kano and looked up the venue (a hotel). The venue hotel’s prices were high so I looked at Google map for nearby surrounding hotels that I could stay and walk down to the Venue of my meeting. City Centre was the not the nearest, but it was the most affordable of the 3 hotels in the area. My plan worked, City Centre was a 7 minute to the meeting venue.

RATES I usually take a photo of the hotel rates and upload. Check the photos.

HOTELS IN THE AREA There are 3 hotels in the Farm Centre Area of Kano: Guest Pride, Bristol Palace and City Centre. The most posh -and most expensive- is Bristol Palace. Mind you, ALL of the Hotels are expensive with a range are at 30K above.

I PAID… I negotiated via SMS with one of the numbers on the flyer that I saw on one of the photos. I got down to around 33K per night because I told them I was staying for 3 nights, and added some pleading.

THE HOTEL…. It is a brand new hotel (as at July 2023) so things like the pool were still not ready. Everything in the rooms was new and clean.

New hotel means… some inexperienced Staff… They forgot some room items that I had to call for. My toilet leaked somewhere.

There is a Kettle in the room with ingredients for Tea/Coffee. I loved the wide Bath space. Made me feel like Billionaire. Getting the right hot water/cold water combination on the Shower knob was a challenge because of how hot the water was. Then the pressure of the water from Shower reminded me of proper 5-Star hotel showers. Loved my bath times.

FOOD MATTERS… The biggest problem I had was finding restaurants to eat nearby. I only eat hotel food when I have to. I prefer to stroll out and eat elsewhere. Then a little shopping for biscuits/wafers/drinks and stroll back to the hotel. But, in this this area, it was a major challenge. I ended up with Bread and fried eggs from a nearby Mai Shayi.

If you want to eat, you have to take a tricycle (aka “Keke”) to Zoo road, which is not far. There you can get restaurants/eateries and the Ado Bayero Mall (which has KFC and Shoprite, the only two places I can recommend of all the Food places in the Mall). Thankfully, the tricycle fares are very cheap. 300 to 500 naira will get you there.

I ate Masa in one of the restaurants in Zoo road before walking to the Mall. It was a typical Kano restaurant, with flies zooming everywhere, and questionable kitchen hygiene… but I wanted the Masa real bad. Just as you come down the bridge into Zoo road, I noticed some Bakeries on the left. In case you want those, you can check them out. Oh, there is a huge Sahad Store opposite the Ado Bayero Mall.

Stay with the City Centre restaurant if you don’t feel up to exploring Kano city a-bit.

The Hotel says they have complementary breakfast but I forfeited it when I asked for a discount. So, remember that if Breakfast is that important to you.

CONCLUSION… Is seems to me that the Owner of the hotel has been to many 5-Star hotels and is trying to replicate the look and feel in the City Centre Hotel. So far, so good. All that they need is Staff training and dedication to excellence to make that vision a reality.

Yes, I will stay...

I stayed at the Kano City Center Hotel, which has the same name as the location, for a business trip. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with a good masjid for prayers. The food was delicious, but a bit pricey for my budget. The waiters were excellent and attentive, and they made me feel welcome. The only downside was that the warm water was not readily available in the shower, which was inconvenient in the morning. The hotel also did not have a pool or a garden to relax, which would have been nice. However, I enjoyed the parking lot and the water rushing facilities, which were well-maintained. Overall, I had a good experience at the hotel and I would recommend it to others who are looking for a 4 star accommodation in Looking forward to check in next...
