This is not a typical hotel or regular one, it has it's own character. And you can feel it the moment you step in. You'll be welcomed by the owner in the morning shift or Robert in the evening shift both are great and welcoming. Robert though would find the time to answer your questions about Norway, planning your trip or even recommending what you can have for dinner! They're that awesome.
Speaking of dinner they have restaurant at the same hotel that serve one of best home cooking Reindeer steaks and local Trout you might taste. It's part of the whole experience if I might say. Mathew and the lady in the restaurant were very helpful and kind.
In addition to all of that, it has one of the best views in the world. 1 minute walk to the epic Varingfossen waterfall.
No doubt I will visit it again. Don't visit Norway without visiting this hotel for at least one night....
Read moreThis family owned historic hotel is situated above a wonderous waterfall in the Norwegian mountains; it is the only hotel in the area. The hotel is rustic, and that is quite fine, in tune with the surroundings. Room 51 is a great disappointment. There is NO shelf space to unpack onto, a very small closet has completely inadequate space, and there is no radio or TV. The internet connection was weak and unstable. The staff tried to convince us that we were the problem, now their WIFI service. The bathroom is almost inserviceable. The shower curtain surrounds the shower and the toilet, and there are NO towel bars or hooks. The room costs 1800 NOK a night, far too much for this level of quality. We have stayed at other mountain hotels in Norway and this one...
Read moreWe spent one night in Fossli hotel late August. We have been given a large room with canyon view at the upper floor. This was amazing. Rooms are cleans. Beds are soft. The old parquet and doors grind sightly but it is part of the unique beauty of the Hotel. Dinner is very good. We tried lamb and reindeer. Both were delicious. Breakfast is simple but everything is good. A night in Fossli Hotel is a great experience. From 7 pm to 10 am, you have Vøringfossen just for you. The view from rooms is simply magic. Because Fossli Hotel is a little bit old-fashioned and romantic, this is the place to dine, sleep and dream. Only a fool would book a room elsewhere.
