New is best

Even though Sogndal is next to a beautiful lake, the town is not yet up to standards. It feels a bit messy here and there. People are working hard to build hotels, piers (what are they building there?), and the new mall may already be ok (haven’t been there). There are a lot of beautiful (old) houses, but also a lot of depressing office buildings.

However, this modern hotel is excellent. We did stay in the new and modern part of it, and that had nice up to date gadgets to commandeer the room. I love it when the casting device works and we can use the television. Really comfortable big tv and nice logically designed rooms.

The restaurants are ok. The food (hamburgers, what else? Pizza. All over the world it’s the same) is ok. Only one not very healthy salad, and that is always a disappointment.

There are more pros than cons: The bed is divine and has really nice pillows (which is an exception!) The room is big and the bathroom was really nice.

A luggage stand would have been nice.

The breakfast was really good as well. Chef made fresh eggs and bacon and there was a good fresh beans coffee machine.

Four stars, because three would have...

This hotel is part of a standard chain so you can be fairly sure what to expect. I booked a superior room and asked for a quiet one. Room perfectly nice with a big smart bathroom & it was distant from other rooms in the modern wing BUT there is a really busy road outside and we were close. Perhaps it’s not feasible to have a superior room away from the road? Beware if you are a light sleeper. |There was a good buffet breakfast on offer though as the hotel was busy it was a bit hectic. There are 2restaurants to choose from & the Italian LaPergola was very good. See separate review. |The reception staff were amiable.|A few omissions for the price: No tissues, no shower mat to stand on outside shower, no facility to make hot drinks in the room. Yes very nice to have free hot & soft drinks in the seating area downstairs, but a bit of a trek down 4 floors to get one. Couldn’t fill my hot water bottle for my back pain too. Would a small fridge to put our water in be too much to ask? |These small things would have massively improved our stay.|Would I stay again? Probably not as such a noisy area and hectic with so...

After asking for 3 times of room change, finally got a call from the concierge to get a room change to a newer & bigger room. This makes me feel that at least the hotel is still willing to make least efforts to make improvement on the hotel standard better with great customer service & being the real Quality Hotel.

At first it was Really bad on service when i asked for a room Change or swap because the room was poorly maintained and when i told them i would like to change to non smoking room as my neighbour is smoking so much it filled our room with cigarettes smell.

There people checking out and i politely asked a swap of room to a better quality when there is people checking. It just how so inflexibility the concierge is to refused for a room change to make the customer stay more pleasant for the next 3 days

But really Thanks for making the efforts to make next 3 days of stay with Quality hotel more...

We had a lovely two night stayed in Quality Hotel in Sogndal! The location is really good, it’s about 3min walk from the bus/coach station and 7min walk to a port! The lady at the reception was really nice! we asked her a few questions and she even looked up for answers for us The room we stayed in is really clean! 👍🏻 However I would say it’s just a really basic room, there is towels but no floor mat; and there isn’t a kettle as well which is quite inconvenient. Breakfast is from 6-10, and there are coffee machine at the lobby 24/7! For someone who enjoys coffee a lot this is super good 😊 (but i will need to say there is so many flys around the coffee area, it’s made the experience not as good.) Also there are a massive group of loud people on our second day’s breakfast, the queuing for the food took so long and a lot of the selection of food were finished or not there even it’s only around 6:10 :((

A nice hotel with a good staff, but a bit old and worn out. I stayed there for one night in october. My room at the fourth floor had a beautiful view and was in perfect condition. The breakfast was delicious and I also used an okay traning room. The reasons i give it a 4 star is simply the condition of the rest of the hotel. One elevator did not run between 22 and 07. And the shape of one part of the hotel was a bit ugly and worn out. There was some reataurants really close by that almost could be delivered without going outside, and yes that is a big plus with Norwegian cold autumn weather.
