The hotel is under new management and although the rooms are not fully refurbished, the rooms that have been redecorated look good. The bathrooms are still work in progress but the hotel has a very good restaurant, a godsend considering that there are practically no other restaurants in the area that are open during the weekend. ||The staff where very helpful and explained the fact that not all rooms have been upgraded before we arrived at the hotel via email. They also explained the same on arrival.||Some of the rooms face the main road, and could good a bit noisy in the afternoon during the busies periods, but at night the town of very quite with very few cars so it was not something that bothered me. ||Bearing in mind there are very few hotel option in the area, this is a good place to stop over, if not visiting the restaurant is highly recommended as it is the best there...
Read moreHotel in middle of Rjukan center, old and worn hotel with a lot of history, so dont expect modern ikea hotel. Rooms appeared clean, not much of a view though. The room have a fridge which can be nice for an extended visit. Hotel appear very dark in general, and could need some led lighing. I took notice of some of the very old and expensive leather sofas and chairs
No real outside space to sit, however linked to the hotel is Rjukans oldest pub, with a hundred years of history within its walls. They serve only pilsner beer and some liquer, and is somewhat unreliable opening hours. Also hotel is somewhat seasonal, so call first. And opposite of the hotel is a small park with tables and a kebab resturant that is very good.
They have parking in the back, however everything is within walking distance.
a tip try their thai soups, the resturant have a...
Read moreWe came from 3 days in a tent and wanted a good night sleep. First impression wash ok (We did not expect much after reading reviews), and we where greeted by a friendly receptionist. The Hotel is outdated, but ok in the common areas. ||||Family Room: New electronical door locks are in place. The beds were ok, but had the smalest pillow in the area. The family room had 2 extra foldout beds, and almost 2 baths (only 1 with a shower). Great room size for 4 persons. No aircondition or vents in the room made our night horrible. With 28 degrees outside and horrible air inside, we had to open the Windows towards the main street. The noise from the Main street was very loud and ruined our sleep. Except for no sleep, ok hotel. ||Free parking outside.||||All in all, we would say it is overpriced and outdated hotel. Ask for a room away from...
