From the moment we entered the property we experienced several issues: The kitchen sink tap was broken There was a crack on the marble countertop A kitchen drawer wouldn’t close and remained open The shower had no hot water – moreover, due to the layout of the bathroom, when taking a shower everything would get wet, including the toilet and toilet paper
Most of all, at check-in we noticed that there were construction works taking place in front of and next to the property; in particular, the same owners were building additional units. The person assisting us at check-in was vague, saying he didn’t know if work would actually continue the next day.
The following morning, and again the morning after, from 7:30/8:00 am there was hammering, welding, and excavators going back and forth. I immediately reported this issue to the host along with the other problems. The host replied that they were aware of these issues and moved us to the adjacent room. In reality, the problems remained the same. Although the photos showed beautiful apartments, the actual quality of the materials and the issues in the first room were practically the same in the new one – since the apartments are essentially identical. Cigarettes burns on the carpet, superficial cleaning, same problem with the shower.
Later, when we returned home in the late afternoon, we discovered that the electricity wasn’t working. As dinner time approached, we decided to go out to eat something. However the front door would not open and we were locked inside the property. I messaged the host, who replied that this was impossible and that the door had a mechanism that worked even during a power outage – except it didn’t. I asked what I should do, since we were hungry after walking all day. Instead of sending someone to check, the host suggested us to exit through the back patio door, which would have meant leaving all of our belongings and valuables unsecured. Being in a foreign country we didn’t know, we didn’t feel safe doing this, so we stayed inside.
The power outage continued, so I asked at least if we could have something to charge our phones – the following day we were planning to hike a volcano and needed at least one working phone. The host replied that she would find a solution, but then disappeared and never provided one. We went to bed without dinner and without a hot shower.
The next morning the power was back, but the construction works continued with diggers moving around and hammering noises, and the door still didn’t work. We checked out, again reporting the door issue, but no one came to inspect it. Later, I received a message saying they were sorry for the problems and that it was important for them that I left a 5-star review because their activity supported several families.
Six days later I was accused of having broken the front door and also a chair. My partner later found a photo of mine taken inside the room, clearly showing that the chair the host claims we broke was not even in our room.
Moreover, I found it very strange that no one accessed our room until six days after our check-out, especially since, at the time of check-out, we informed the host that we had exited through the back window door as the main door was not working and the host reply to me that somebody would...
Read moreA very disappointing stay. When we arrived, we found construction works going on right behind the house, which had never been mentioned at the time of booking. The apartment itself had several issues: a broken kitchen sink and drawer, and a shower without any screen, placed right next to the toilet — making the whole bathroom wet after each use.
We reported this and were moved to the house next door the following day, but it was essentially the same, with broken furniture as well. On the second evening, the power went out completely. The host didn’t provide any assistance — no backup lights, no solution — and at first even suggested we exit through the back window, leaving the property unlocked. Later, they told us to simply find another accommodation on our own (was 9.30 pm)
We had to involve Airbnb support to request at least a partial refund, as the host refused to cooperate. To make matters worse, they later tried to claim we had damaged a chair (which wasn’t even in the property we stayed in) and the electric lock, which had actually failed during the power outage — something we had immediately reported.
Overall, it was an extremely negative experience and we would not...
Read moreWonderful location and beautiful views all around our studio. The cohost and staff were responsive and quick to assist with activity recommendations and fresh towels. The amenities were very comfortable. We check out tomorrow after our 5 night stay during the week. We hope to stay again in the future and look forward to seeing the improvements that are currently underway on the property. It's hard to beat the view, and the bed and updated kitchen and bathroom were very comfy and inviting. The pans were very nice quality. The water heats rapidly. Couldn't ask for much more. Thank you for such a wonderful experience as we explored all of the local communities, activities, and my first experience outside of...
