So we have seen this place advertising so much we decided it was time to go for Lunch..Also it being owned by fellow South Africans we thought great we can support some fellow countrymen..Ohhh what a disaster..Place was looking a bit tired but we decided to stay and eat.. Ordered Beer battered fish n chips and a Bacon cheese burger..And some drinks..Took 20 mins for our drinks to arrive even though we were the only customers..Then the food arrived and what an absolute disaster they served us..The fish was burnt dry and of very dubious original quality..The burger the same near charcoal state..The burger bun was from the out of date section of the local Chinese store as it was stale and fell apart as you tried to lift the burger from the plate..only to find a Hockey puck instead of a meat patty..The only edible thing on both plates was the chips..And the single piece of bacon in the burger was under cooked and chewy..They say the bread is fresh from a local bakery but not the day we went.So we let the waitress know the food was really bad but she just smiled shrugged her shoulders and bought us the bill..I'm sure the owners would be horrified to see the food we were served but they are obviously absent from this business at present.. Pictures of the fish as what...

THIS IS ONLY FOR THE RESTAURENT :We arrived at the restaurent Mangar Lodge with a very cool surfer vibe and a warm welcome from the young waiter. The rest is complicated a little bit when we received our dishes. We had to order a Mexican beef on rice, a dish of shrimp "patacones réllénos" and tacos with Fish. Ouff the patacones with shrimp were very inedible. did not eat. Upon closer inspection you could notice that the shrimp had not been emptied of their droppings so the dish tasted horrible. In addition the patacones was also of a questionable taste neither me nor my girlfriend have eaten. The chef came to explain himself by saying that the fisherman came every week and blah blah making us seem to be complaining. The rest of the dishes were average without more the fish tacos was without guacamole although the waiter told us he had guacamole. My rice was instant to the minute rice. I love their beers on tap, perfect for young people who don't dwell on quality. So our blame lies with the chef who after all did not compensate us for anything and we left with a bill of $ 50 for ultimately not much. Unfortunately our first experience has the result of...

Two steep stairs to apt like dark hall to rooms, only 3 or 4.||Open door and smelled a foul odor. Beds hard and bumpy||And pillows the same. Sheets with holes. Air conditioner is loud above your head.||Was given a menu for food but no staff until 9am. So no early coffee||Only craft beer, Coors and Stella. No panama beer that would be reasonably ||priced and delicious. The yard looks nothing like the the pictures. The ocean is around the corner,||All rocks and black sand some trash. You are advised not to bring your own beer outside in yard to ||Drink, they would rather you buy their craft beer. No friendly atmosphere of beach feeling. Cats are everywhere wining at night. One cat drank the shower water after I washed my feet it was so thirsty. ||When I asked for manager, the one girl there said he was off. Booked 5 days stayed one night, no refund or response from manager. But was very friendly when telling you how to book room on there web-sight and pre charging total payment. Lesson Learned. Most places in Panama are...

We had the best dinner at the Lodge! It was a quiet Sunday night and the owners of the hotel/restaurant were so friendly and outgoing. We had the chef’s special for dinner which was a ribeye taco. It was unbelievable. Finally found a place that serves appropriate sized tacos. There was a great craft beer selection and the owner’s knowledge of the beers was helpful in selecting which one to try. The lodge is just off the beach and the beautiful garden patio made for a perfect date night. My only regret is that we were staying at an Airbnb down the street. I would have much rather stayed at the Lodge. Would recommend this place over many of the other restaurants in the area. Can’t say enough good things about it.

We came to see a band play (Jim Votow) and stayed the night at the hotel. They didn't have diet coke which I thought was strange since there's a lot of expats. The service however was excellent. The hotel room was nice. The beds at first felt a little stiff but surprisingly we had an excellent night's sleep. The rooms appear to block out a considerable amount of sound. We had a family with three young boys next door but didn't hear anything not even the music that was playing at other hotels. The breakfast was delicious. Fresh hot and strong coffee and nice sized pancakes. The young man serving us was very nice and helpful.
