Gran Hotel Azuero — Hotel in Herrera

The rooms are functional and enough room to move around a bit. We had a balcony overlooking the pool but the balcony could have used a fan because it was very very hot and humid on the balcony. Also the music at the pool is very loud and when we were there it started at 6.30 in the morning! And nobody was there (obviously...). ||||The hotel caters for a lot of parties which isn't all to pleasant if you're not invited. We had a birthday party for a big group of 8 year old at the pool in the afternoon and the next evening there were at least 3 different parties going on, all with loud people and loud music. Although most of the staff is very friendly this was not our favorite hotel. We did order room service one night and that was excellent! The lady who took the order and brought our food was very friendly and her English was very good. And the food was also good and pretty cheap. ||||Breakfast is a buffet but the staff will scoop your eggs on your plate. ||||The neighborhood is not very inviting and a 20 minute walk from the city center. We had excellent dinner at Salsa y Carbon. Across the hotel is a Subway (with horrible staff) and a churro place....

It’s Panama 🇵🇦 what do you expect. The service is going. To be awful. That’s just a given. No matter what. The rooms. The don’t know how to clean. That’s a given. The people don’t know customer service. 5 ⭐️ for location not in city. Not out the city. Good location. It’s pretty quiet. Now, if you’re a GRINGO and don’t like music all hrs of the day from the pool or Discoteca. This place is not for you. The free breakfast is very decent to be included in the nightly rate. This place is pretty well kept by Panamanian standards. Other customers are nice. The beers are cold, it will take you forever and ever to get a pool side beer or service. But that’s Panama. 🇵🇦 there is nothing negative about it. Shoot. A security guard there even noticed. It and he went and got us a pitcher on ice cause we was waiting so long. Mad, nope. It’s #panamanoproblem anyways. It’s a solid place….AC works great, awesome shower pressure, and hot water....

This hotel is well located, not inside the city not outside the city: just the perfect mid point in between. The staff at the lobby and restaurants are an enormous asset to the organization. Everyone of them is eager to say good morning or good evening, helpful during the check in process, assisting with the luggage, just plain friendly and professional. The rooms are of a comfortable size, the mattress are extremely comfortable, a/c runs well, and even complimentary water bottles, added every day. We are refraining from giving them a 5 star review because the pool closes at 6pm and no one is allowed to enter until the next day. With the favorable weather of Chitré it would be a delight to be able to just enjoy a dip during the night. P.S. The Christmas dinner was delicious. The lobby was decorated exquisitely. P.S.
