Our vacation stay at Los Establos was amazing in every way imaginable. The property is lush and beautiful with impeccable landscapes grounds and amazing views of the mountains and Volcan Baru. Our visit was in late May, which was at the beginning of the rainy season for the region and the long range forecast was 100% chance of rain every day. Don’t let that deter you. Yes - it rained every afternoon, but overall the weather was quite lovely. It’s so consistently comfortable that there are no thermostats in the rooms. The hospitality at Los Establos is warm and welcoming…all staff members go above and beyond to ensure the satisfaction of their guests. All of our tour experiences were first rate. We chose the hanging bridges tour and our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable about the Panamanian ecosystem and eagerly shared numerous interesting stories about the history of the Boquete region. Same with the coffee tour, which included tastings of seven varieties including the renowned Geisha coffee. Our favorite tour was a beautiful hike into the Quetzal habitat where our experienced guide did indeed spot a nesting bird and we were treated to a rare sighting. The meals at the on-site restaurant were so varied and delicious that we didn’t feel the need to venture into town for a lunch or dinner. The dinner menu changes daily and the chef took great pride in her wonderfully prepared and presented desserts. NOTE: like many others, we used a certificate from the affiliated promotion company which requires purchase of their all-inclusive package. But for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks along with a choice from numerous daily activities and tours with experienced guides, it was easily worthwhile given the overall quality of our experience. If you’re considering a visit to Panama, we highly recommend a stay at Los Establos...
Read moreLos Establos was the most surreal resort experience I’ve ever had. I went here with my wife and two friends and we had a life changing stay. First and foremost, the staff were impeccable; they went out of their way to accommodate us and were always pleasant and helpful. The chefs here are five star - the food was fresh and the presentation amazing. I’m a vegetarian and each specially made vegetarian dish was better than the next. This is not the kind of all inclusive resort meant for hanging by the pool drinking or in the spa all day, although you theoretically could—this is an adventure experience meant to get you out to see the local sights. Each day you get an included tour to use and if you want you can do multiple tours in a day—we did five of the six included tours we had and two of the extra ones, including the hike up and down Volcán Baru and the Boca Chicas Island tour (these don’t count toward your six included tours but cost extra). We also happened to meet wonderful people there who made the happy hours (with the best drinks I’ve had) a blast but otherwise our time was spent exploring. The weather at Los Establos is unpredictable but in March it ranged from chilly and windy in the mornings and evenings to hot in the sun during the day with an occasional shower - however, just down the hill from the resort in the town of Boquete the weather was usually warmer and sunny. It’s a microclimate up there, but most of the excursions are at lower altitudes where it’s usually warm/ hot and sunny. Boquete and Los Establos are truly hidden gems and I’m sad our visit is over - I promise you won’t be disappointed if you make it your next...
Read moreOn our first trip to Panama, we decided on Los Establos and stayed for a week. Wow. What a gem. We are so happy we had a one stop itinerary. Los Establos was perfect for us in every way. The entire experience from reservation to the good-bye on our last day was a flawless experience. The staff is absolutely amazing; friendly, cheerful, engaged and helpful in every way possible. The location is optimal for easy access to Boquete, yet perched on a hillside with a commanding view of the valley and Vulcan Baru. The gardens on the property are stunningly beautiful. Most of the property is fringed with coffee bushes. The rooms are beautifully decorated, quiet, spacious and wonderfully furnished. The on-site restaurant is a destination unto itself. The food is amazing with the menu updated daily with familiar foods but also a good choice of wholesome Panamanian cuisine. The spa and pool are both beautiful and functional. While the Inn and faculties on-site provide ample opportunities for rest and relaxation, there is so much to do and see in the surrounding area and the staff is very eager to make arrangements. We hiked to waterfalls, ambled on guided bird walks, visited a coffee farm, wandered the streets of Boquete, went on a honey tasting and butterfly tour. walked on hanging bridges and more. The second to the last day of our stay, a beautiful rainbow appeared suddenly over Los Establos. We knew we had already found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and it was Los Establos. Thank you for a truly wonderful and...
