Start with the right expectations and you'll enjoy yourself. I've read reviews complaining of water pressure or furniture. Start by considering the fact there is a full service B and B on a tiny island miles off the shore of Panama, and you'll see it's a miracle. Water pressure in the shower is weak, sure. I'm amazed there's enough hot, running water to support tourism. Let alone power. Wifi. Satellite TV. Netflix. Cold beer. Good breakfasts. Air conditioning ... it's a true miracle just steps from beaches you see in tantalizing resort photos and think must be made up. Beaches with no footprints. Just yours to make. Friendly staff, Gerald himself picks you up at the ferry, and what impressed us was the ferry arrives around 10 a.m, the room was ready (none of the "no check in until 3 p.m." stuff), the ferry out leaves at 3:30 p.m., no worries, they gave us access to the room until it was time to go, no "check out 11 a.m., no exceptions," as we saw at another nearby property). That's pretty amazing. Rough edges, sure. This isn't the Ritz. But that's why your on Contadora and not Cabo. Hip tip, whenever you leave, take water. This place is really, really, hot. You may find yourself exploring in an area where there isn't help or water nearby after just a short walk. Take water with you when you venture out, even on a short walk. Walking in sand is hard work, and it's very hot here. The upstairs "pool" deck is a great place to relax and much cooler than the lower garden level. The pool is just a plunge pool, which is what it's intended to be, a place to cool off, not do laps. It's small (also cold, which is welcome!) but the lounge chairs offer a great view and a place to drink a few cold beers you can buy at the grocery around the corner (which accepts...
Read moreVery disappointed about my stay at Gerald’s. |First of all, the place does not feel proper. There’s rubbish in the middle of the yard that you observe every day. The beds are ok. The bathroom is stained all over, it doesn’t feel clean at all|The safe that was in the room didn’t have a key, and even if it did, it would be useless as it can be easily taken out because it’s not attached to the wall.|The electricity got cut off the 31st of december. Though having a generator, the owner waited for almost an hour to turn it on. I barely managed to finish the shower as the water does not often work without electricity. And I had to prepare myself for the New Years celebration in dark, while they were waiting to turn on the generator. |The next 2 days the rooms were most of the time without electricity and water, though there is generator at the property. But they turned it on only for the restaurant, and most of the time kept is shut off. When I complained about the fact, they told me that when they finish in the restaurant I’d get the electricity. So they used generator to serve food to people, a lot of them from outside of the hotel, and make their money, while the clients who already paid for the room suffered without electricity and at times without being able to shower too. They would chose to make more money over their...
Read moreLet me start this off by saying that the room was ok, but definitely not worth the price it cost. Let's start with the very cheap bed that is given, it's built on an extremely cheap frame and just doesn't look nice at all. The room is very spacious but lacks not only decor but it just feels like a hospital room, not a hotel room, Yes there is a closet or wardrobe, but the room is bare other than that and the bed. The Bathroom needs a complete renovation. The showerhead barley puts out any water pressure at all, and all the tiles in the shower are either cracked or some are even missing. And down to the smallest things such as even the toiletries are terrible: the toilet paper is rediculously thin. The Soap is like a wax candle instead of a bar of soap and doesn't really work at all. The best part about this place is the area and views from the roof top deck where they have a small pool approx 3M long X 2M wide and 1/2M deep.||Also I found the proprietor of the establishment quite rude.||Honestly, just completely unimpressed...
