We stayed three nights at this hotel. The devil is in the details, as the saying goes, and this hotel could be better if they paid attention to the details. |We stayed at a so-called Executive Suite, "bedroom and sitting room with a view", which I thought was going to be of the river only it ended up being a view of a park by the river.. I had inquired on this when I made the reservation, but I guess I did not understand (my Spanish is fluent), or perhaps the words that were used to describe the view were not sufficiently explicit. The room had a strange layout. The entrance door opened directly on the bedroom, by one side of the bed. Since the entrance was on the landing, from the bed we could hear every guest going up and down the stairs at night. The bedroom was an interior room, very claustrophobic in feel. The sitting room in the front had the only window. The air conditioning units (two, one in the bedroom and one in the sitting room) had a bright ON indicator light in green that could not be switched off and made sleep difficult. Late the first night, we resorted to covering it with a piece of paper affixed with a couple of bandaids! There was a pungent smell in the sitting room, that seemed to emanate from the A/C unit ... humidity, I think. (I related all this to the Reception Desk when we checked out). The bed was comfortable, except in retrospect we think the mattress cover may have been plastic because it made us perspire. The soap for the shower (there was liquid hand soap in a wall container by the basin) was only one and tiny and was not replaced as we used it. |The breakfasts were very good. Service in general was friendly and helpful. |We were exceedingly surprised at being asked, upon checking in, to pay for the three nights of our booking in advance, although we had made the reservation with an international VISA card (this has never happened to us before). This, we were told, is the policy of the hotel. Another surprising occurrence: at checkout, we were asked whether all the hangers (the inexpensive plastic sort that dry cleaners provide) had been left in the room (!). Of course! We could not help but wonder about the class of guests the...
Read moreI in general like the hotel but do have some mixed feelings about it. Checked in on a late night and the female staff was pretty nice to proceed with a quick check in so I could get into my room quickly. I was given a room right next to a small corridor from the restaurant. There was only 2 door and 1 of them was my room and I started wondering: does this place only have 2 rooms because it was just a single storey. The next day morning then I realized there was another building next to it and this was the only wing, not sure if it was a better or a worse room compared to the one in the building. For me the room was okay, it was clean and so long I could sleep and shower its fine in general. It did fulfil the purpose but there were some things which didn't really met my expectations. I was happy they provided a hairdryer but there was no powerpoint in the room which the plug could plug in. Funny right? Thank God I have my travel adapter and with it I could use the hairdryer. Since the room was situated near the restaurant and the pool, found it quite noisy when people could chit chat till very late and I can hear everything. Also even when there was no one the music from the restaurant was quite loud to begin with. Then there were kids running around the restaurant at night or shouting in the pool in the day which made the stay very unconducive for some peace. Breakfast was pretty decent. On the first day I just took merely from what I saw was on display for breakfast, not until the 2nd day then the lady asked me if I wanted scrambled eggs. The pool looks very inviting in the day but when I was walking towards it looking at the water, I could actually see like oil floating on it. Not sure how it came about. I didn't have time to use the pool nor I would want to after seeing it but I hope the staff can do...
Read more#Bad points:|-Stay away of you like a nice cup of coffee in the morning: they serve you "Cafe Norte", which is probably the cheapest brand in Paraguay. They also offer you a better brand at an extra cost (first time I see that "low-cost" tactic in a decent hotel).|-Also, the Wifi won't reach some parts of the hotel. Their signal repeaters are places near the most expensive rooms, so good luck!!|-The parking lot has only space for two cars, so good luck if you are driving!|-The attention is good, but your never alone. One person is always escorting you from|you car to your room... While you're having breakfast a person is standing near you to aid when needed, whether you need milk, sugar, toasts...|-Breakfast juice is not real juice. It's basically made of concentrate powder....|-The bathroom sink it's outside the bathroom and inside the room. Weird.||#Good points:|- Mattress appear to be brand new in our room.|- Scrambled eggs are tasty. Although you have to ask for them, but they are included with breakfast.||Basically it's a nice hotel according to Paraguayan standards, but never to European standards... In Paraguay this is a "boutique", in Europe this would be a bed and breakfast for...
