We did not enjoy our stay at this lodge, for both practical and preferential reasons. ||||1, The road and driveway to the lodge is unpaved and in extremely poor condition, heavily rutted and during our stay very muddy. Some taxis from the center of town would not drive to the lodge because of the condition of the road/driveway directly to the lodge. ||||2. Generally the staff consistently did the bare minimum and the property showed a similar regard. They may be in some financial stress but that is speculative. The lights in the main building and restaurant were always off; the common areas were very dark and not inviting. We were awoken before 8am one day by staff telling us to switch off our porch and rear deck lights because they were wasting energy. The complimentary breakfast was sparse: party of five sharing 4 slices of bread, for example. ||||3. We selected this hotel because the cabins came with full size bath tubs which I enjoy and relax in after long days of travel. The tub had no drain stopper (water would immediately drain out), so I asked for a stopper for the drain. One day and three asks later they told me it would cost extra to take a bath! Inital excuses were they didn't know where a drain stopper was and then exclaimed it must have been lost. Speaking of the tub/bath, the hot water was minimal at best. Very bad . Even after waiting, per instruction, 15 minutes for the water to warm||||As for location, and for others considering Chachapoyas, I'd recommend something in town, near the Plaza de Armas so you can be in the center of the town's charm. ||||Related note: The airport in Chachapoyas is super convenient versus Jaen or Tarapoto (but a decent distance outside of town), airport is very tiny and becomes a ghost town (with no available taxis/transport) after about 1 hour of an...
Read moreI can’t say enough about the hospitality of the staff at Ensenada. Our family of 6 stayed here for 7 nights. The tranquil grounds were a welcome rest from the busy hotels on the plaza. The staff was attentive to every need - favorite foods for the kids, a heater for the room - even bringing out an umbrella when we arrived from town in a taxi. We relied on the manager to help coordinate travel plans for excursions and our next leg of travel and were very grateful for his kind assistance and knowledge of the area. He even offered to drop off our laundry on his way out of town! We were cared for like family and we actually changed our plans to stay at a sister hotel in Cajamarca after our stay in...
Read moreThis property is on the outskirts of Chachapoyas, and is the perfect spot for anyone wanting serenity. The hotel is new, and offers rooms and bungalows. The room had a wall of sliding glass doors and a spot to sit outside. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the staff happy to accommodate any wish. Large parking lot, and wrap-around porch on the main building. Lovely restaurant on site. Management will arrange a taxi to and from downtown, cost is just a few dollars.||||Just a beautiful spot surrounded by greenery. I would happily stay here again if visiting sites...
