Rustic is a good word to describe the rooms here. The buildings and furniture are all a bit rough, but interesting. On the bad side - no heating or airconditioning, the flyscreen was torn, no bathmat was provided, just one thin bath towel each, my bed felt like it was on a slight slope, the "pool" is a shallow kids pool but it wasn't clean when we were there, wifi is only available in common areas not in the rooms and isn't that great, no minibar or desk in the room, it's out of town so you need to call for a taxi if you don't have a car, the breakfast wasn't nice - hard boiled eggs most days but not all, sweet bread, cakes and biscuits, sweet cereal, sweet fruit, sweet yoghurt. Not even a toaster. On the good side, the gardens are beautiful. We even saw hummingbirds. We had a very pleasant dinner in the restaurant one evening, food was tasty, service was good and the roaring fire in the fireplace...
Read moreWe stayed 5 nights in early February while on a tour of the archeological sites of the Utcubamba Valley. Restaurant was closed for lunch but open for dinner. A budding young chef (Jose Luis) operated the restaurant at night which offered a range of dishes that were very well prepared with often locally sourced ingredients. Wines and beers as well as cocktails were available. One evening after a late lunch he prepared a special off menu plate of snacks for us with several hot and mild sauces to...
Read moreMy wife and me did our honeymoon travel through Peru and we visited a lot of accommondations all over the country. After arriving in Chachapoyas, we tried Villa de Paris as it really looks beautiful. But to be honest: I don't like beautiful places, if the staff is unfriendly. In this case, the concierge was unbelievable unfiendly. She even didnt try to slow down speakings, although we asked her speaking slowe as our Spanish isnt that great. She doesn't want to help us organizing trips, she tried to charge us for washing the laundry, although it wasnt dry on our departure day and she was always unfriendly. ||Beside of that, there was a damagy by water in our room and water startet dropping of the roof. I definitely wouldnt go there again as the concierge...
