Hotel Prim's — Hotel in Jaén

There are two halves to this hotel - the old, and the recent addition. Be sure to ask for the new section because the old, where we were assigned, is old. Problems with our room included clogged shower head and drain, intermittent warm water, and electrical wall switches that sometimes worked and sometimes not. The room and linens were clean, and the air conditioner worked quietly and efficiently. ||||The lobby, small restaurant and pool area show their age and are best described as adequate. Complimentary breakfast (not provided or available Sunday) is limited to juice, coffee, hard rolls and scrambled eggs. In our opinion it is best to eat lunch and dinner at a legitimate restaurant in town. ||||Service was good and the staff was friendly and helpful, though none spoke English. Our group stayed in Prim's several nights. Everyone liked it since it was nicer than most of the hostals we stayed at. One reason we liked it was they gave us a price of S/40 per person, a big discount.||||It was clean with all the basic ammenities, including TV and wifi. There is even a pool, which we didn't use. The hot water was unreliable (solar). The elevator was helpful. Most rooms are on the small side. Jaén ist nicht unbedingt mein Lieblingsort in der Region kennt, denn geschmacklich lässt die Stadtarchitektur einiges zu wünschen übrig. Das Prim´s kann mittlerweile fast als Symbol für eine mißratene Gestaltung gelten, wobei es vor rund acht Jahren noch durchaus einen recht guten Eindruck hinterließ. Seitdem aber "Prim´s Business Class" an der plaza besteht, scheint die Investitionsbereitschaft und Pflege seitens der Verantwortlichen nachgelassen zu haben. ||||Auf jeden Fall sollte man sich die Zimmer vorher anschauen, bevor man akzeptiert. Bei zwei Übernachtungen zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten im März fiel auf, dass die Unterschiede beträchtlich waren. In einem Fall war das Bad nicht ganz sauber (Haare auf dem Boden), an der Toilette fehlten Brille und Deckel (was ich hasse!) und der Preis (ca. 20 € für ein sehr kleines Einzelzimmer mit winzigem Bad und miserablem Ausblick (s. Foto) erschien in Relation zu anderen dieser Klasse in Nordperu zu hoch. Als Vorteil sei erwähnt, dass es warmes Wasser gibt, was in den meisten Hotels auch dieser Preisklasse nicht die Norm zu sein scheint. Das Frühstück ist inbegriffen, aber nicht gut.
