Beatriz and her hostal were absolutely perfect for me, and I cannot speak highly enough of this magical place! I arrived with food poisoning and following an exhaustingly long bus ride from Bolivia, and Beatriz welcomed me in with open arms. She saw how unwell I was and immediately brought me medication and a hot tea. When I asked where I might eat something light that night, Beatriz lovingly told me that if I bought chicken, she would make me homemade chicken noodle soup. It was exactly what I needed and such a loving gesture. In addition to all of this, she welcomed me with a coffee in the morning and helped me reserve a taxi to the airport for my flight. Truly an angel from heaven!
In addition to the absolutely superb service, the room was amazingly clean, and the bed was so incredibly comfortable. I loved the Peruvian inspired painting in the room and appreciated the little amenities like a towel, hangers, and shampoo. This hostal had absolutely everything I could have asked for!
For anyone looking for a little piece of heaven in the middle of Juliaca, this is the...

I stayed at Hostal Sumak’usi for four nights. It’s conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Plaza de Armas in Juliaca. The room was clean and comfortable, equipped with a good bed, high-speed internet (50 Mbps+), and a reliable hot shower.
Local markets such as Tupac Amaru and Santa Barbara are only a 5-minute walk away, and Real Plaza Mall is about 10 minutes from the hostal. It’s also just 5 minutes to Terminal Fátima, where colectivos depart for Puno. The area has plenty of eateries and coffee shops nearby.
The host, Beatriz, was communicative and kind from day one. Her attention to building security is excellent — she promptly locks the doors and carefully verifies guests before entry. She also went the extra mile by providing me with an iron (plancha) and an extension cord for added comfort.
A pleasant and safe stay — highly...
Read moreThe host is very kind and friendly. She is always happy to help and tries to provide all the information you need. Even though my Spanish wasn't very good, she used Google Translate for effective communication with me. I was supposed to stay only one night, but my stay was extended due to my flight cancellation. After dealing with the stressful situation at the airport, she gave me a warm welcome when I returned to the hotel, which made me feel at home and relieved. Also, the location is great. For instance, there are some markets and a shopping mall within walking distance. It takes about 10 minutes to get to Juliaca airport by taxi and about 15 minutes by colectivo...
