Like other reviews state, this hotel is clearly working with airport taxi drivers, who get a cut of the pay to bring customers to the hotel. We arrived early in the morning in Lima and just needed a hotel to rest at until our midnight flight. We asked the taxi driver to bring us to a hostal near the airport we had the name of, but when he saw that we didn't have an address or clear idea of exactly where we wanted to stay, he insisted that we go to this hotel that is 4.5 miles away from the airport (but it took us 1 HOUR to get there and back due to the traffic). It was much further than we asked for, and when we arrived, he went in for about 10 min., during which he was clearly talking to the owner to get a cut of the pay. It does not take 10 min. to ask if there are open rooms, especially when the lobby is empty.||||The owner wanted 150 sols for a double, and even though it was already very overpriced for the quality of the place, wanted $50 when we didn't have sols. On top of that, we only had $45, which was STILL more than the room was actually worth, and she pressed us for 3 more sols and said we owed 2 more. ||||The room itself is disgusting. Dirty towels, dirty sheets, a fan covered in dust and webs, and no air conditioning. The wifi was horrible and kept disconnecting. Absolutely not worth the $36 - 50 they will try to charge you. ||||Another review notes two other hotels you can stay at in the area. I would highly recommend looking at those or others in the area, as there are many. Do not trust all the taxi drivers to bring you to a suggested hotel because some are clearly collaborating with this hotel. These are horrible, dishonest people who run a dirty excuse for a hotel. You will be wasting...
Read moreI arrived from Buenos Aires late at night and needed a place to crash en route to my trip to Arequipa. I am very familiar with Lima and just needed a place to crash for a few hours. I talked with several taxi drivers about some options (this isn't always a scam). I figured, if the guy gets a cut of the price I'm charged, so what? I just needed a cheap place for a shower and a bed.||||The room was pretty smoky smelling and I didn't dare get under the covers or bedspread. I am not a total clean freak, but I knew better than to test this place. ||||The water was hot and my shower was actually pretty refreshing. I was even able to call my wife via iPad over their wifi connection on the top floor. Not a bad connection to be honest.||||The guy at the front desk had difficulty making change for my 150 soles (the room cost 120, a rip-off, but oh well). He didn't get me my change until the next morning...||||All in all it was okay. Obviously I wouldn't choose to go there again. It was just a temporary stopover.||||The security was good, except for the feeble little doorknob lock... There was...
Read moreThis hotel is clean & safe, the staff are helpful (giving advice about getting around town on the mini-buses as well as advising some neighbourhoods to avoid), and it's situated close to several attractions, including Museo Larco. There is also a Cruz del Sur bus ticket office in the nearby shopping mall, Plaza San Miguel, if you need to book onward journeys (i.e. Nasca, Cusco). ||Our top tip is to ask for a room away from the front of the building because the traffic on La Marina is intensely noisy. ||Obviously, the neighbourhood is not as nice as Miraflores, but it seemed reasonably safe to us during...
