We stayed a few nights as we waited for flights from Lima to Cuzco to be organised.||The hostel is pleasant enough, clean rooms and with clean functioning bathrooms. Everything in our room looked new.||The beds were comfortable and we got a good nights sleep.||We had some troubles with the Wi-Fi, but the owners were happy to create a hot spot for us so we could organise our flights.||Our room didn't have any air-conditioning, so it was a little stuffy, but we did have a fan in the room so it wasn't too bad.||The hostel offers airport pickup, but if you are catching a taxi from outside the airport complex it will cost about 20 soles. (the hostel advised it should cost about 15 but even with some stubborn bargaining we couldn't get this price).||We have been told by several Peruvians that this area is not very safe and they had personal accounts of people trying to get into their car while stopped at traffic lights.||Having said this, we found that the hostel felt very safe, and we walked around at night with no problems. (we are experienced travelers, never took any valuables out with us)||About a 10 minute walk from the hostel is a new shopping center with some good restaurants, and some nice shopping.||Less than a 5 minute walk from the hostel is Plaza Vea where you can buy...
Read moreI stayed at Insights Hostel because I had a late flight into Lima and an early flight out, which is pretty standard. Much of the area around the airport is industrial and does not feel very safe for those of us used to the standards of the developed world, and I booked Insights on the recommendations in TripAdvisor. The host had arranged pick-up from the airport, which was worth every sol when you get in late at night, and was there to show me my clean and cosy room. I felt very welcomed, and the area is residential and felt safe. He also arranged transport back to the airport the next morning. Breakfast was included in the price, and it was perfectly nice - please remember that things are a bit different in South America .... Isn't this why we travel there in the first place?|I am very glad I found this place and will happily return. Places like Insights are hard to find and for a woman travelling on her own it's...
Read moreClean place, lovely host and pick-up worked well. ||We thought it'd be around the corner from the airport but it's a 20min drive. They organised everything. ||This is the perfect place if you want to explore the real Lima and love meat, nobody speaks English and the veggie options are limited to fries & a simple salad. The hardest area to get some plant based food on my whole Latin America trip, no more quinoa or stews. There is a supermarket 5 walking minutes away (it closed just when we wanted to give up the restarant hunt - Murphys Law I guess) and one Pollo place next to the other. ||Make sure you either being cash to pay or have your paypal ready - no credit card accepted.||Also our room had no aircon just a slow & loud fan. ||Breakfast was lovely and we felt save. Thanks...
