THIS HOTEL IS NOT SUITED FOR INTERNATIONAL GUESTS.||Their own website tells the following: «Our Mission: To make our customers feel are most important.» They did not make us feel welcome, certainly not important! We had made the reservation several months ahead, so they knew very well that we were coming. Still, the whole place was «buried» in dust. Bathroom shelf, sofa etc. All outdoor tables, chairs, umbrellas, sun beds and mattresses. On our demand they cleaned 1 table with chairs and 2 sunbeds our first morning (Thursday). The sun bed matresses were so worn and full og holes, they should have been thrown away years ago. The pool was so dirty it looked dark brown all over. They started the cleaning work of all this later that Thursday, which meant we could not use the pool that day. The umbrellas were flushed with a cold water hose. They were still very bad looking afterwards – they needed a big warm soap wash. The cement floor around the pool was so dirty our feet were all grey walking on it. When I put my black hand bag down, it immediately turned grey, too. This floor was never washed / flushed while we stayed there.||We were the only guests from Wednesday night till late Friday night. So the personell had a lot of time to do the cleaning. The windows in the restaurant were cleaned on Saturday. They took down the curtain rods, they were all over the tables when we had dinner. Curtains were not present at all during our stay.||In the bar there were a lot of glasses hanging over the desk. They were covered with dust – and were just the same during those 4 days we stayed there. We did not ask for drinks….||||We told ourselves that this is Peru, not Europe standard. But we had travelled to Lima, Puerto Maldonado, Cusco, Urubamba Valley, Aguas Calientes and Puno – it was clean and nice all over, in the towns and in the countryside. When they promote themselves on the internet as a good hotel also for international guests, we expect more. We had to stay because it was prepaid, and we made the best of it and managed to enjoy the sun and the beer (red wine was ice cold, food was medium quality). People were nice and friendly, but with so little English spoken and the responsible at the reception absent most of our stay (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) it did not help much.||||THEIR OWN WEBSITE ALSO TELLS THE FOLLOWING, WHICH IS NOT TRUE:||1: «We are just 25 minutes from downtown Lima and 40 minutes from Jorge Chavez International Airport». ||TRUTH: At least 1 h 20 min if you are very lucky on a quiet day like Sunday. Normally 2,5 h because of very loud traffic all the way. Everybody in the area knew this. ||2: «…great panoramic views of our spectacular landscapes and large grotto with waterfalls to the Virgin Ma. Auxiliadora….privileged place with the best climate in Lima and sunny all year ….. surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes with mountain climate…..that delight the most demanding tourists…»||TRUTH: Mountains/hills of grey stone, no beauty at all compared to the rest of the country. The terrible Lima fog goes all up the valley and was considerably present. Fortunately the sun came through it, but there is certainely no mountain climate. Garden waterfall without water in it – they had not turned it on.||3: «….with total tranquility ….. the joy of waking up to the singing of various birds characteristic of the area».||TRUTH: The place is close to the highway, which made a constant noise. You cannot have the windows open at night, the noise is too strong. Even with the windows closed, you will wake up to the sound of the early morning train at 6 o’clock carrying minerals, when it passes just below the garden to the sound of all its horns.||4: «Games like toad, ping pong…». ||TRUTH: Ping pong table buried in dust and leaves in the garden.||5: «…now renovated and with 12 modern rooms». ||TRUTH: The rooms in the main building are not renovated for a long time. Old bathroom etc.||6: It tells all rooms have a safe. ||TRUTH: No safe. The receptionist did not even understand what we were talking about when we asked where it was.||IN ADDITION ON BOOKING.COM:||7: «An American breakfast is available every morning».||TRUTH: They only offer a continental breakfast the first 2 nights. It includes 2 small breads pr p and about 2 tea spoons of jam. 1 dl of coffe (cold!), 1 dl cream, hot water for tea, a glass of juice. For extra payment they offer scrambled eggs. American breakfast from the 3rd night includes the scrambled eggs. ||8: «Gift shop».||TRUTH: No, there is not.||9: We speak your language! Multilingual staff. Spanish. English».||TRUTH: The man who received us Wednesday night, spoke a little English, not well. He was not there on Friday, nobody understood us when we needed some help. Saturday fortunately a new waiter spoke good English. All others spoke...
Read moreSince there was a dearth of review on this place, I looked at the website and called the "resort" several times before booking. I tried several other resorts in the Lima area that I had experience with, but every place was booked solid for New Year's Eve, which is a popular holiday for the resorts in Peru. The ladies that I spoke with at the "resort" told me that they had a New Year's "package" that would give me two private "bungalows" with private baths, breakfast, dinner and a New Year's Eve party for my party of seven. For this "exclusivity" and "package" we paid $2270. They suspiciously would not take a credit card (later I learned that it is probably to avoid chargebacks) and insisted that I send the money via wire to ensure the reservation. However, when I got there, they proudly displayed the "VISA" sign on the front desk.||||First of all, let's be clear. There are no bungalows. This is a HOTEL. Our "bungalow" (which was supposed to be the best they had) is merely a room above the office with a rock-hard bed. The second room in our "bungalow" was a tiny room by the entrance hall, also above the office, WITHOUT a private bath -- you have to walk across the hall --in full view of the public areas of the second floor of the hotel. As the other reviewer stated, the wireless internet is bad and only usable if you leave your room and go to the main floor-where it is weak, but you can sometimes obtain a signal. ||||On to breakfast the first morning. They brought out the "included" breakfast for my party of seven -- bread, papaya juice and coffee. That's it. However, after we complained, they agreed to bring us fired eggs and a lunchmeat-type of ham. Service in the dining hall (I don't call it a restaurant because the lobby, restaurant, etc are all in one place) was excruciatingly slow. Dinner wasn't much better. The activities they promised, were non-existent. There is a small pool and a swingset. That's it. There was a New Year's party with fireworks and a decent dinner, for sure, it was basically us and the owner's large family. Add I know who paid for it.||||Don't stay here! Stay at "El Pueblo" down the road for truly exclusive private bungalows and real activities like karaoke, horseback riding, bingo, etc. This place was a painful ripoff that I really lament paying for!||||I have stayed in REAL resorts far, far, better than this place for 20%...
Read moreMy husband booked two bedrooms for a weekend with our moms, old ladies over 85. We initially did it through booking.com. To his surprise the owner of the hotel contacted him directly suggesting him to cancel his booking with booking.com to do it directly with them claiming booking was going to charge us extra expenses at the premises so he agreed to do it directly with them and paid almost $400 for two bedrooms per night.||For $200 a night in hotels in Peru you can expect very decent bedrooms so we were expecting the place to be amazing. Once we arrived we noticed the place is NOT AT ALL as what the pictures show. The rooms were very crappy, the mattress hard as a rock and the bedrooms were not at all a $196 value bedroom. Even worse the bedrooms are close to the freeway that makes a very loud traffic noise that disrupts your sleep.||When we approached the front desk claiming that it was not what we expected and we wanted to cancel but they offered to switch us to another room slightly better, still crappy and not at all close to our expectations or worth the price! As a reference the JW Marriott in the city charges $108 for a very nice and super comfortable room with an ocean view!||Anyways we decided to cancel the reservations but it came to our surprise that once we approached the front desk the clerk or owner of the place said it was not possible to cancel the reservation. We totally regret not doing it through booking.com because through their app all cancellations with this place and many others worldwide are mostly free and one doesn’t need to cancel upfront. These people are scammers, they scam booking.com and they scam customers. I truly recommend not to go there because you’ll be disappointed to pay almost $200 per room per night for such an uncomfortable room with stiff mattresses.||The front desk clerk was very unhelpful and rude. They couldn’t care less for our disappointment and made no effort to make it better.||Booking.com should know these hotel owners try to attract customers through there app and then invite customers to scam them.||Very...
