Our room was quite small and cramped but we had a wonderful, huge bathroom with a sunken bath almost big enough to accommodate a football team! Large grounds, three pools, spa, stables, mini-zoo, restaurant, bar, cafe and conference centre.||||In the reception area there was a large water dispenser, just to the left of the coca tea, where we could fill our water bottles.||||A buffet breakfast was served in the separate cafe building which was perfectly adequate. However, the main restaurant, El Fogon, was fabulous and the food really was superb. Every meal we had there was excellent and of a very high standard.||||We also had the best cocktails ever in the bar. After having a particularly exceptional Margarita and Caipirinha on our first night, made by the head barman/waiter, Segundo, we decided to put him to the test over the next few days by trying lots of different cocktails, all of which were consistently superb. Segundo makes the best cocktails we have ever had, especially the Margarita and Mojito, and deserves a special mention.||||We spent a few hours one day exploring Cajamarca and after only a few hours we were happy to escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets back to the peace and tranquility of Laguna Seca. We were glad we weren't staying in the city.||||It was a tad cool at night and some rooms had an electric heater (ours didn't). We wondered why, being as the property benefits from thermal water, they don't utilise this to heat the rooms at night?||||We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. We would...
Read moreI was volunteering in Cajamarca for two weeks with another girl from the states, and it was suggested by our volunteer coordinator to check out Laguna Seca rather than Banos del Inca- which although cheap, can get REALLY crowded since it's a very popular tourist spot in Cajamarca/Banos. Compared to spa prices in the states, this is a STEAL! For $57 USD we each had three hours worth of services including: sauna, outdoor thermal pools, herbal jacuzzi with floating flowers, 45min total body massage including foot reflexology and mini facial. We got nice thick robes, towels, slippers, a private changing room with a nice hot shower (honestly- just to have such a nice hot shower after two weeks of cold showers volunteering was so exciting), bottled water, and some kind of fresh-squeezed lemonade juice that was delicious and refreshing. Again- all for less than $60. ||Banos in town is very iconic and affordable, but if you don't mind spending the extra money- go to this beautiful property and treat yourself. ||||Tip: We weren't staying in the rooms so we had to book our spa treatments separately over the phone the day before. Knowing to speak Spanish somewhat well will help you booking over the phone. I'd recommend booking at least the day before to guarantee a time slot, and not...
Read moreThe hotel was great, but THE DISHONESTY OF THE STAFF MESSED WITH THE END OF OUR STAY! My girlfriend and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel.
We must believe that this kind of thing happens even at the best hotel in town with a good reputation, but against the most offensive is that; the management did nothing to find my stolen cellular or find the person in question that works in laundry.
Thinking, I'm just a tourist passing through, and I continue my journey and unable to claim back anything. But we must believe also that management has nothing to do with the good reputation of their hotel.
But otherwise it's true, I was delighted with my stay, the setting is beautiful, breakfast and service are exceptional. The dishes served by the restaurant are excellent. Little less is that even if the pool water is changed once a week, there is nobody to clean water every day from all insects and plants floating on the surface.
GOOD TIP: If you want to keep your stuff, leave nothing dragged...
