Apr 17/13||GV Hotel Baybay 550p||We have stayed at several of the GV Hotels and found they are exactly as advertised. Basic accommodation. No problem at at.||We arrived at the Baybay facility and they did not have our reservation. ||The receptionist was out and the maintenance people, although helpful, were unable to find my on-line reservation. I turned on my computer, access their Wi-fi and got my e-mail up at the same time they finally found the reservation. Just as I shut down my computer the Receptionist showed up and wants to see my e-mail confirmation. W-fi only on 1st (lobby) and 2nd floor. They wanted an additional 200p to stay on the first floor. Good thing I can still walk up stairs. ||Went to have shower, no water. I know about the main valve on the wall but no water. Told the desk, she told me the guys were out getting a part, they would be back in 15 min. I explained I had been traveling and wanted a shower. Back to the room, 2 minutes later the water comes on, It is so dirty you could not use it to shower or wash up with. I show the bucket to the receptionist and explain to her there is no way you could have a shower in this. Apparently the maintenance guys were cleaning the system.||To be fair, once the problems were sorted out. All was up to GV standards. And yes I would...
Read moreWe needed a room for just a night and it was raining really and we can't continue to drive to Ormoc. We got a corner room on the 2nd floor. It has a window but it's facing the roof and plumbing outside. TV is still boob tube with really bad reception. ACU needs a filter change and cleaning, it was making noise too. Towels and sheets are thin and old. Several times during our stay, our room smelled like sewer and I can hear the room above us flushing the toilet.
Check in and check out staff were nice. However, we came down several times and everytime we go down, a uniformed staff was either leaning or sitting on our motorcycle like it's theirs. Why would their own staff casually do that to a guest's property? We did not say anything because we don't want any negativity/retaliation especially that they have signs saying "Park at Your Own Risk". Staff need to be trained more.
It was an okay stay since we're only there for a night. Won't recommend for...
Read moreThe bed wasn't made: folded sheets were just laid on it. At least they had a regular American-style thin sheet here (I encountered multiple places in the Philippines with thick comforters but no sheet). There was no bottled water in the room, or glasses to drink from. There was a table and two chairs in the room. The AC wasn't able to cool the room as much as I'd like, but it got the humidity remarkably low (yes, I brought a thermometer on my trip). I put down an extra deposit to get a second key card to keep the power and AC on when I wasn't in the room. Variability in the water pressure significantly slowed down my shower. The water went out at night, but was quickly turned on again after I complained at the front desk. The toilet stopped working, and I had to take off the lid and fiddle with things to get it working again. The pillows were soft. They charged 50% of the nightly price to let me check out late. I wouldn't...
