i find the place cozy enough for when you are staying to rest and relax. the place is perfect as a venue for meetings, conference, parties and even weddings. they have a wide ballrooms and meeting rooms. our meeting room when we had our event hekd here was cooled with 10 air-conditioning system..amazing..the furnitures are are classy stylemade of local materials. after the long working day, the pool is just few meters from the rooms where you can dip after some good meals in the restaurant in the adjacent.. the place is just infront of the ocean.. too bad that they build a hi-way in between that it blocks your sight of the ocean.. but still it doesnt make the place bad. the attendants of the hotel are so accommodating. it felt like having a staycation in Hawaii being served with people wearing their colorful floral shirts.. inside the matrimonial room, the size is perfect. it is big enough to even have a mini coffee table for 2 and some nice chairs to sit while maybe reading while sipping their freshly brewed delicious coffee ☕.. so love it.. tv is available with cable and lots of charging plugs, fridge.. but of course the bed is more than enough for a couple, actually its big and soft. they change the bedsheet everyday so its clean. one complain is just some mosquitoes were flying around but they hide when ac is on. toilet and shower room is small.. not a big issue though.. one thing i didnt like is the water. it is salty and may no really be good in cleaning our body.i think it makes sense because the location is just really in front of the ocean..in general, i recommend this place when you are in cdo and specially when organizing large grouo meetings and...
Read moreI have previously written a review of this hotel. NO idea why its under B and Breakfasts, except that breakfast does come with the room. I love this hotel for its open gardens and even its destroyed view of the bay. But sometimes the service here is specifically designed to keep visitors away and for those that stay here to ensure that they never return. And it's not as if the hotel is full all the time. Today, 4 of 31 rooms were occupied last night. ||||Examples:||||1. The free internet access is often out of service.||2. The beef tapa has been taken off the complimentary breakfast menu leaving fried bangus (small and dry), chicken adobo (mostly bones and sinews), and langanista (ok, how many days in a row can you eat sweet sausage?)||3. When cleaning the rooms, the door is left open. Guess what? LOTS of mosquitos in the rooms (ask them to spray).||4. Chronically some lamp or light or electric socket does not work - and the room cleaners never check.||5. In many rooms there is the smell of untreated sewage in the showers.||6. The air conditioners are VERY loud. This can be an advantage since they can drown out the weddings and disco music that booms in the open area on some days.||||The view has been largely ruined by the bypass road to the port. Still nice if you stand. But the area stinks at low tides - nothing the hotel can do about this except try to get the city to put fill between the hotel and the road. ||||All in all: we will come back. But...
Read moreThis hotel (Harbor Lights Hotel), if the management wants it to stay afloat and competitive in the city where there a lot of good hotels, should improve its facilities truly well. I stayed in this hotel for just overnight (July 5, 2025) to attend to an important event of a friend. Though only two levels, this hotel is old that needs refurbishing. Considering that Cagayan de Oro City is a big city that is often visited by local and foreign tourists then a thorough rebranding of this hotel is needed. There were unused beds that were just stacked up outside the room at the second floor where I stayed and I find is as an eyesore. The room rates are affordable though with ordinary set up. Basic toiletries were also provided such as tissue, soap and shampoo only, but the shower water pressure and temperature is poor. Very poor internet connection also. There were four internet connection given to be availed in the second floor, but nothing gives a good signal where you can do even basic emailing. Internet connection in hotels nowadays is a necessity already. I sought the assistance of the staff at the information desk, which he obliged, but after I left and went back to my room, the “overly poor” internet connection persisted. The swimming pool has been dried up that is why the guests cannot avail of this facility. To those planning to book in this hotel, maybe you can look for other alternative hotels in Cagayan de Oro City that has...
