We booked an overnight stay here in one of the Cocoon rooms. Overall, our experience here was great. The only thing we had an issue with was the service we experienced at one of their restaurants, The Sands.
We ordered breakfast and had it delivered to our room. Their menu said that the breakfast menu includes coffee or juice and I let them know I'll have the coffee. However, they forgot to bring it and I only realized it after the delivery guy left so I reached out to them but never got a response. Fine, I let it pass cause it was just coffee anyway and our room had complimentary coffees already. But it would been nice to have had someone respond and acknowledge my message.
However, the next offense was something I just couldn't let pass. We decided to have lunch there after checking out of our room. They were pretty busy so we sat ourselves in one of the free tables (that hasn't been cleaned yet) and I asked a lady server for assistance in cleaning it up. We waited a bit and no one was approaching us, so my husband then asked 2 more servers for help. After a 4th attempt, the guy we spoke with FINALLY cleaned our table and gave us a menu. I heard him ask one of the other staff to serve us soon as he's going to deliver food to some guests. So we waited again. At this point, my patience was running out already. I understand they were busy but I don't think we deserved to be ignored. We finally left after waiting for 15 more minutes. No one even noticed us leaving. We did run into the guy who cleaned out our table as he was returning from his delivery but he didn't even try to speak with us, I'm pretty sure he recognized us. Again, it would've been appreciated if he tried to apologize to us or something. I worked as a manager in a restaurant before and this kind of service is simply...
Read moreWe booked a day trip to the resort via Klook. From the registration, the staff was welcoming and organized. The lobby was impressive and had a nice vibe. The staff was organized and immediately helped us transfer our baggage to our Cabana by the Boardwalk.
The Cabanas here are close to the shore and so we thought it was perfect. Some of us were even able to take an afternoon nap on the comfortable seats. Although sunny, the place had a cool breeze.
The resort had café care of Taza Mia. Their Iced Cafe Italiano was delicious. I enjoyed my coffee while looking over the sea.
You can bring your own food but there is a corkage fee of 200 per adult. If you opt to dine here, they have two restaurants. We ate at the one near The Swing. The servers were very kind and accommodated all our requests. The food was okay.
The sea in this area was shallow and safe for the kids. However, the water shallows out drastically (ankle-deep) by afternoon and you can't really swim. There was much seaweed as well, which I didn't quite enjoy. It was almost like walking on wet grass.
The resort itself was beautiful and breathable. It did not feel crowded at all despite all the Cabanas being booked. We had a relaxing time overall and would love to try an overnight...
Read moreMy family loves this water park/beach resort in Calatagan! We've been here twice already, and we enjoyed both walk-in day tour visits. The entire resort area is well-maintained and spacious, with separate large pools for adults and kids. We had fun using the big slide in the adult pool and walking along the long stretch of fine sand. The staff was approachable and helpful and offered us a free shuttle ride (PWD friendly) to the other amenities of the resort because it was quite a long walk.
I just wish there were more water park attractions (more slides, perhaps) and the main bath area wasn't so far away from the adult pool and the beach area.
There is a corkage fee if you plan to bring outside food/drinks in the resort; bringing snacks and drinking water is free of charge. Fortunately, there were two main restaurants inside the resort. The Sands serves classic Filipino dishes, while Captain Barbozza offers ribs, pizza, and breakfast items. I prefer the latter's food (my lolas/lolos said that most dishes at The Sands lack seasoning). There are other food stalls inside the resort, but I haven't tried them yet.
Overall, if it wasn't for the relatively expensive entrance fee (1,000+ per person), we would visit...
