La Choeben Suites — Hotel in Calbayog

Hands down the best price to value ratio hotel I have ever stayed at anywhere in the Philippines, and I have traveled here for six months in total. Internet is FAST, 240mb+! Rooms are clean and extremely economical/fairly priced for what you get. Staff is the best I’ve encountered, we should clone whoever trained them and put one in every hotel in the archipelago.

I mean it when I say I wish I could stay here, but in a different city, every time I move. I extended my stay twice and slept like a baby. Aircon works great, convenient outlets, small workstation, good water pressure, unbeatable location…place is the total package.

The only thing I could recommend is that they either charge a tiny bit more and make water refills, free or at least least sell larger bottles than 250mL—with how close we are to the ocean, we really don’t need to contribute extra plastic waste like that. Hotel is at the city center, and right across the Grandtours van terminal. Nearby establishments are within walking distance, or can be reaches through pedicabs or tricycles. They do not have an elevator, so having big luggages can be a bit of a hassle. Reception is also at the 2nd flr. Check in was fast. My room was small but good enough for one person. It has no heater. A bit pricy for me given the size and lack of certain amenities. I've also noticed that the gap of the door is wide enough such that I can already see the people passing by the corridors. This makes me feel I havw limited privacy as my bed can be seen as well through this gap. They also has limited sound proofing, so I can also hear the sound or noise...

We had a really nice 2 day stay in La Choeben Suites. When we arrived, they helped us in with our suitcases, and carried everything to our room. They are very friendly and service-minded, and helped us solving everything we asked them. The place itself is beautiful and we really liked the interior.

The breakfast was served on our request at the time we wanted, and it was tasty.

Good atmosphere and ambience, and a place we will remember in a happy way.
