AHH Punta Bulata, what can I say other than I have had better stays at a mexican prison! We stayed there from June 13 to 15/ 2023. Let me recap.
Upon arrival, we were DOWNGRADED from our ocean view room to an ordinary room because our booked room was "under construction". No advanced email to notify. Instead, forced to use downgraded room for 1 night and moved to 2nd floor oceanview room for 2nd night as it was occupied. Ocieanview room: no smart tv, no walk in shower, smaller tv, no bed for 3rd guest, only floor mattress. No individual shampoo or body wash. Instead, it was a pump bottle for both.
Internet: sketchy at best. Had to use "pocket wifi" which did not work when 1. One person had it and the other was away from them. Pocket wifi could be accessed by anyone while out of the room. Spotty at best, get used to "No connection to wifi" on your phone. Was told by website, "Free Wifi"...Not true, pocket wifi is only good for 5 gig, paid for, and when it ran out, you have to pay for more. Restaurant was supposed to be "free internet zone" but had to flag down a server and get password. Restaurant: This was ridiculous! 1st, you had to order your meals WELL in advance, at least an hour. When you sat down to eat, they brought your food to the table. 2nd, the kitchen staff can't read! So you get what you get. On the first night, I ordered a steak, MEDIUM RARE, when it was brought out, it was well done, and brought out last! Everyone was finished their meal and waiting for me. Next morning, ordered 3 eggs over easy, got them sunnyside up, again, not what I ordered, but ate anyway. Supper on the 2nd night, ordered a CHEESEBURGER and fries. The fries came out, everyone got their food. No cheeseburger. GRILLED CHEESE was brought to the table, even though the order sheet clearly indicated CHEESEBURGER. I cancelled the order, left the restaurant, only to find out that chicken was returned to the kitchen where the kitchen staff and servers LAUGHED!. I did not eat until morning where I proceeded to make myself 2 toasts.
Excursions: we booked with resort front counter, an "Island hopping" tour complete with a snorkelling adventure, for 2:30pm. We arrived at 2:40pm only to find that beachgoers had booked for 1pm, came late, but WE were bumped and not able to go. Was told disrespectfully by "Island hopping" staff that "time was time". Basically, sorry about your luck. No paddleboards, even thougg we were told they had them. ONLY KAYAKS! Booked 3 hours with kayaks and was told repeatedly by the rental staff: Don:t go there, don't go past there, don't go over there, basically left with "straight out, straight back to shore.
Lastly, after repeated complaints were made, resort staff made no attempt to compensate or discount the overpriced experience except to not charge us for items used in our first room, which we still ended up paying for.
There were 16 people in a people mover van, strangely enough, when we checked out and got underway, lugs had been loosened from our front tire.
Final thoughts: AVOID PUNTA BULATA AT ALL COSTS! They are full of sorries with no compensation for inconveniences that should have come automatically with the...
Read moreBooked a night here,to do the 3hour Discover Danjugan tour.In case Danjugan was cancelled due to rough seas, we'd at least have the resort.A 3hr drive from Bacolod city, it was worth the drive!Driver was excellent, a rental referred by equally excellent Punta staff.I had cancelled the Danjugan tour but upon arrival at Punta, we saw the weather was alright,&Punta staff gamely assisted us in pushing through with the tour, insisting it was not to be missed. Our room &the resort looked so much better than shown on their website & booking platforms.Big,lots of cabinets, well-stocked mini-ref, bath robes, an umbrella, comfy queen beds.Warm welcome, fresh, bright room complete with personalized welcome.Very relaxing atmosphere, well-kept grounds, birds calling from the trees, calm, cheerful staff who were both not intrusive yet efficient in coordination & reminders for us(efficiently called us to book a trike back from the Antol port just as we docked!).Had a sunset dip in the pool, walk on the beach,& very delicious food.Orders took an hour to be served, but worth the wait.Breakfast mini-buffet+choice of mains was yummy&lovely. We had a lot of the banana bread & apple pie. Only sad part was the logo coconut tree had fallen the previous week due to the storm,& coconut was not available for Chicken Binakol. After the Danjugan tour we needed a late checkout &we were never pressured even as staff rushed to clean rooms for guests checking in. In turn we checked out at exactly 2pm & had one more delicious meal. We wished we were staying long and definitely hope to return!More 4-star than...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed for 3 nights at this beautiful resort. A Lady managing one of the hotels at Kabankalan highly recommended us this resort and also when we asked the locals to recommend us a great place/resirt to go, Punta Bulata is what they recommended. This resort exceeded our expectations. It is beautiful and clean and so is the beach. The employees were wonderful, all of them, from the front desk, massage Ladies, the restaurant staff, house keeping, all the staff did their very best and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our room was clean and beautiful, the house keeping attended to our every need and/or request. All the staff is able to communicate in english. The restaurant food was delicious. We were especially impressed by Gigie, working as a waitress, her english is immaculate, she was very professional, polite, friendly and also very knowledgeable about the Island of Negros and Philippines in general. As for the beach, it is a beautiful white sand and very clean. The sea is shallow (good for kids and people who don’t know how to swim) and you can go for a long time and the water is still just above your knees. The resort also offers an hour daily of free kayak. Long story short, we had a wonderful time at Punta Bulata. Thank you all the staff for making those 3 days unforgettable. Oh, and the sunsets at the beach are...
