Magic's Place Beach Resort - Basdako Moalboal — Hotel in Cebu

We had a very disappointing experience at this resort in Moalboal.

While the caretakers were polite and accommodating, the owner was extremely rude and unprofessional. We were a group of more than 10 people, and as we were unloading our things to bring into the room, the elderly woman (the owner) kept asking for the payment — not just once, but every single time we passed by her. We understand that payment is necessary, but the constant hounding was unnecessary and uncomfortable. One of our friends explained that we would settle the payment right after the person who booked our stay finished his meeting. However, despite that, the owner went straight to him — while he was still in the middle of his meeting in one of their cottages — and demanded that he pay immediately.

When we finally entered the rooms, we were appalled by how filthy they were. There was a strong smell of cockroaches, and we had to clean the place ourselves. The bedsheets looked old and dirty, like they hadn’t been changed in ages. There was no sink for washing dishes, only a faucet and a bowl inside the comfort room, which was extremely inconvenient.

We originally planned to stay for two nights, but we ended up cancelling the second night because of how unpleasant everything was.

We had also pitched three tents outside, but at 7 AM the next day, they rudely woke up our friends by shouting, “HIPUSA NANA NINYO!!! KAY MAKABAYAD MO!!!!” — basically threatening us with a ₱5,000 fine if we didn’t pack up immediately. The way they handled it was uncalled for and highly disrespectful.

We don’t recommend this place at all. The location may be nice, but the poor customer service, lack of cleanliness, and the owner’s rude behavior completely...

the room is expensive but it wasn't worth it, the bedsheets are already used and it got sand on it, the room has an aircon but it is near the toilet, u can smell sht while sleeping, the floor isn't furnished - we booked for a room for 10 people but we can't either sleep in bed or even on the floor....My mom tried to tell the staffs and the owner abt the situation but an old man started to shout at us and told us to pullout and get out of the place, idk what the staffs told the old man to freak out like that, we just wanted to chill but that day we were stressed out, the room is even messier and not presentable than our own house, what's the point in our vacation then? we were so disappointed on their attitude( the staffs, the old man) and their room. Some ppl told us that they were also disappointed bc their cr doesn't have a door but curtains were attached instead lmaoo. When we contact them, they did not show us our room/ send pics so we expected it to be presentable but it's not, I don't want to tolerate it but i also don't want chaos so instead I wrote this honest review for ppl...

The accommodation doesn't give you the quality of your money. The place has not been renovated for several years already (3+ years). A friend of mine has already experienced the horror she been here before and has expected some improvements and renovations since it has already been 3 years, and yet we were stunned on how awful it was. Rooms look like hell, worse than a bunker. We chose a room for 6 persons since they only offer 4-person & 6-person rooms-we were 5 in total, but the 6-person room only has two double beds. Its a disaster, worse, we're kinda big man so its hard to fit while sleeping together. Another problem is the staff, some can smile yet other are not showing accommodating ones. Everything is also expensive, but understandable. The place should be one of the highlights of the entire Cebu yet its hard to see how Department of Tourism has allowed such place to exist. Only the beach is somewhat good, the rest...well. Anyway, to experience and see is to believe. Not recommended. You have to choose better and ahead of time to check other resorts...
