Stayed here in March 2013. This review is so late in coming, but the fact I vividly remember this trip should say something. Travelled to Bohol with parents plus various others, including two couples, so we took up 4 rooms on the 2nd floor. Because I was just tagging along for this side trip, I wasn't involved in the planning, didn't know much about Bohol, so I had no expectations about the accommodations when we arrived that night (nor that there was a world-famous beach (Panglao) that we were driving further away from as our van climb up this steep hill in the dark....) ||||We pulled up to a beautiful villa, brightly lit, the doorways splayed wide to reveal a welcoming open floor plan lobby, a long span of shiny hardwood that seem to go all the way to an open lanai in the back. It was a three? four? story lean concrete villa, with obvious attention to detail. There was a fountain in the middle of the circular driveway, and all I kept thinking was --- is this the place they show in "The Bachelor"? ||||Had we arrived at the luxurious home of a wealthy friend? Well, that is how it felt for the two days we spent there. I'm not sure if the facility was light on guests, or if there were just not a lot of rooms but it really felt like we were the VIP guests, in a peaceful serene setting, with top notch customer service. Because I was a last minute tag-along, we needed to add another room to the reservation, which the staff of course handled with professional ease.||||My mother kept apologizing that she had found the place online, sorry that it wasn't on the beach, etc. etc. I can't even imagine a better, more relaxing stay anywhere else. The thought of a busy noisy beach - despite the proximity to the sand and water activities - was not even comparable to the quiet comforts sitting pool-side after dinner, having long chats with friends doing karaoke at the outdoor tiki bar, enjoying the cooling mountain breeze, and not getting attacked by mosquitoes for a change! ||||As for the rooms: well- thought out, spacious floor plans in each of the four rooms. Clearly, the western travelers needs were kept in mind -- the decor was simply elegant, with un-fussy linens and window treatments; the bathrooms were sparsely modern, tiled floor-to-ceiling in what I can only describe as similar to flagstone that we have in the States; the desk, fridge, dressing area were all similarly fashioned. Flat screen TV, phone, and of course room service available. The rooms facing the back, had balconies closely overlooking the pool; the rooms facing the front had facing the lush green hills.||||Pool/tiki bar area, small but relative to the size of the facility overall. The small restaurant (think more like open-air dining room) is just the back section of the wide-open lobby completely opens up all around like a lanai. The food was well prepared and tasty; straight-forward and delicious (Quick disclaimer - I am a Filipino American, born and raised in the States to parents from Cebu. Having grown up on "tradition" Cebuano cooking, the meals here were like eating the best versions of all my favorite comfort foods. )||||Great value for the buck, clean & modern facilities, EXCELLENT customer service all-around, easily accessible with a driver transport to that world-famous beach (which -- believe it or not -- I never actually got to visit because I spent the whole time in my newly discovered oasis!!). HIGHLY recommend for someone looking for a truly...

It's pretty far from the Chocolate Hills and Loboc side (places to tour around) but it's near Alona Beach and Bee Farm (places to chill at). Commute is possible back and forth Grand Luis and the city for about 15-20 minutes depending on the availability of the jeep and habal-habal. Though you can ask the front desk to give you a ride. In our case, we rented a motorbike from the hotel for 1 day to get to Bee Farm. ||Our room (101) looks really great and peaceful with a balcony facing the mountains (TIP: order breakfast and dinner for room service and enjoy your meals with the great view up at the balcony). It's spacious and nice. Since the default bed for the mountain view room is the twin sized bed (there were 2), I requested to push the beds close together instead to which they agreed. They even added a customized foam to fill in the space in between. Price was just right for a 3-night stay. TV channels and wifi usage are limited though. We didn't use much of the aircon for the breeze outside coming from the balcony and the ceiling fan is okay enough to cool the room in the afternoon. The bathroom heater was pretty much okay but water went out twice during our stay specifically early in the morning of our last day and late in the afternoon of our 1st day. But water went back shortly after the outage. ||Staff were really accommodating and they made sure we had a great hotel stay. Manager would always thoughtfully check in on us. Driver was really friendly and he even offered us to see some on-the-way famous Bohol spots while headed to Alona Beach. The cooks served right. I loved the breakfast omelettes and blue mackarel sinigang for dinner, btw. The breakfast toast though could be a bit too buttery. Housekeeping wise, though the old cobwebs and rust in the bathroom floor could be a room for improvement. ||Overall, the experience was good and the purpose of unwinding was served right. As for the staff who were glad to help us go about and around Bohol, they might find a bit hard to speak Tagalog sometimes, but their warm welcome m would make you come back for...

Nestled in the middle of the picturesque hills and forest 9.6 Reviewed July 30, 2022 Nice Hacienda Style sort of Accomodation, Big Rooms with Balcony and air conditioning. Nice view of the hills and forest, nice cool breeze from the roof top with excellent 360 degrees view. My husband enjoyed drinking and chilling from the rooftop and seeing the sunset. The staff are friendly, helpful and accomodating. We even asked to washed our clothes in their washing machine, we provided the washing powder and cloth conditioner as we already have one. Breakfast was good, prepared on the time we requested. The staff are doing all they can to accommodate customers requests. There was a water pressure problem at nite time, we've been asked if we would like to transfer to the apartment, but we did not bother ...as my husband was sleeping already, the water pressure was back in the morning. Overall, such an experience to stay in Grand Luis Mountain Resort, the price per nite was matching the status of Room Accomodation. We rented a Car when we arrived in Bohol. Transport is essential for a comfortable touring around the tourist spot. You will find it easily in google map. For solo or couple, rented scooter is a must. Wifi only works in the ground floor, I have a local Philippine number on my phone, so I used my own Internet at room. TV did not work, but it did not bother us ....as we have our own tablet with us. They only provided breakfast at the moment....so we drove at nite for local dinner which was 5 minutes away. The gardens are well maintained, though we saw some scattered few trash outside, next to the premises that needs cleaning and tidying up...the ambiance of the Accomodation is like a dated hacienda style with mixed South African and Filipino interior decoration. The Resort needs a good investor to restore its glory when it was used to be....with proper advertising and social media exposure, renovations and updating...it will give jobs to the local people there. They cater as well for meetings and parties.
