My friend & I stayed in this inn for 2 nights in Davao. There were supposedly 5 of us so we already booked & made a downpayment for a groupie room, but only 2 of us were able to push through with the trip, so what we got was a really spacious room at only 1500/night (there is a cheaper room good for 2 at only 600 pesos). The inn was very prompt & quick in responding to queries made online. The staff was accomodating even if we already arrived at midnight. The place is actually a big house converted into an inn with a home stay feel, and the staff are actually family members and do not wear uniforms. The place was really peaceful since it was located in a residential area in Matina, around 20-30 mins away from the Davao City Proper. You will really feel that you are in the province because you will still hear the roosters in the morning. The bathroom in our room was also immaculately clean which was very commendable considering the cheap price. There is simple home-cooked Filipino breakfast for additional 100 pesos, and it tasted good because there is a Manang who will cook for you there. They also offer affordable tour packages at around 350-500/head but we did not avail this because there was only 2 of us and they needed a minimum of 6 people to avail the tour package. The famous Apo ni Lola Abon Durian Candy Pasalubong store was also located near the place, just a tricycle away for 7/head. The nearest tourist attractions would be the Shrine of Sto. Nino & Jack's Ridge which is also accessible via jeepney & tricycle.||||We only had a few mishaps & causes of concern during our stay :||||1) on our 2nd night, the doorknob of our bathroom wasn't working hence we ended up having to use the common CR downstairs. It got fixed the following day before we checked out. We got a discount because of this, though. ||2) I think the cleaning staff have access & goes inside the room to clean, empty trash & collect used towels even when the guests are out. I appreciate the effort, but I still think guests should be allowed more privacy and cleaning should only be done upon request.||3) since there is only one Manang who cooks breakfast, food service was a bit slow.||4) the place is not on the main road and was inside a residential area, so we had a little difficulty finding the place at night. Not all taxi drivers know the place either.||5) You have to inform the reception if you plan to arrive late at night (beyond 10pm), otherwise the gate will be locked and no one will let you in.||6) free wifi was a bit spotty||||If you are a big group and you are all backpackers who care less about the little details and would like a cheap clean place that is different than most standard hotels, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I think there are better options located in the city proper. I will recommend them if the other hotels in the city are already fully...
Read moreThe place is not really known that's why we have to ask a lot of people to locate it. As we arrived at the place we were welcomed by an attendant (I guess) who was in his boxers. We were really shocked because we are all girls and not all people will not consider it. The room that we had was a family room and it's okay. It's nice. It had two queen size (I guess) beds which could fit two people and an extra bed. There was a television which had few channels. There was a hot and cold shower in the bathroom. As we were about to sleep I flipped the blanket that covered the bed and I was soooo shocked that the bed cover was so dirty and it had a bad smell. And so I also smelled the pillows and it's as if they did not changed the covers. We were so disappointed. But we were left with no choice because we were so tired.||||And then, there was a power interruption and there were no generators (I believe) because it take about an hour before the power came back. There were no attendants who informed or checked if we were still breathing or not.||||The next day was our check out at 11 am and because of some occurrences, we were not able to check out on time and so an attendant in her pink sleeveless top came and ask us to leave. But we asked her if we could stay until another hour. But she said that we cannot because there would be another customer to use the room. She said if we really want to we could stay and pay the extra hour which is for 200 pesos. And if we want to stay until 5 pm we would pay 300 pesos. So, I came with the assumption that there will be no next users for the room because we can stay until 5 pm. And also, the way she talks it's as if she is irritated.||||At first we really commend the good room and decided that we go back to Davao again we would stay at the same place BUUUUUT we think that we will not be coming back to the place...
