As of March 1, 2024, This is a review of Pag Utlan Camp.
Entry Price is 200 for Overnight stay. 300 - 900 for Tents to rent. Island Hopping starts at 900 - 1600.
MINOR PROBLEMS.
Let's start with the Location, It's okay. It just looks like a regular beach with a sandy shore and the camping spot is grass. There's nothing particular about it other than the sunset on the Lapu-Lapu island looks gorgeous but that's it.
Camping area is pretty big, we took a post near the trees to combat the sun lol, there's no trashcans in the area or maybe I just missed them, but people just decided to put their trashes next to their tents and near trees which is unpleasant to look at.
There are a few shops near in the area like for food, silogs (Sisigsilog is the best) Bikes to rent (which is a major defects by the way didn't bothered get them fixed) and a Pool table and karaoke to rent one of each which means whoever gets to sit on those area can use it for the rest of the night which was kind of frustrating in my opinion.
The services of the Island Hopping is really fun! Kuya will take you to 3 spots. and offer you extra services such as going to a place where there are more fishes to look at etc. there is a 24/7 shops you have basically everything you can buy.
MAJOR PROBLEMS.
Bathroom - It is the worst part that needs to be fixed / renovated right away. Of all the 5 Bathrooms only 1 has a proper lock. So if you ever wanted to take a bath or do your takeaways business, you had to use the Tub itself to block the door and as of the water. There's no free water on the area despite paying a bit of amount. You have to pay 5 pesos per half filled tub. Which is crazy, water should be the main free source of a controlled area such as this camping spot.
Security - The camping area itself does close on a certain time. I believe it is 9pm or 10pm that they closes the gate and there are fences on the sides to keep however in the beach itself, there are no fences so locals can just easily come in going through the beach.
I would say this in a fairly manner but this place has not establish a proper security restraints in the area. What do I mean by that. That means anyone can just come inside the area in and out and roam around so if you have personal belongings always keep them with you. In a lame terms, if you want to feel SAFE and SECURED this isn't probably the place for you if you're on solos or just for partners there's no guarantee of security of the area is not that secured. Two of my friends has lost their personal items and we've seen local children just roaming around in the camping spot and this is not to attack Olanggo citizens, most of the time they are friendly but the place should be restricted to only Personnel and the campers because this is a private area that we are renting is it not?
BOTTOM LINE.
Should you go to this place? Definitely, it is a fun place for barkadas to hang out in a tight budget. Do I recommend this for Solos or Duos? nope. It does not feel secured at all. I do not feel comfortable leaving my tent if I we're just solo. My take would be fixe the toilets, give the campers a proper running water and a separate bathroom for taking baths which you can put the 5 pesos filling tub right there if you wish and more trashcans please...
Read morePROS: Price is relatively cheaper than other accommodations around the island. The campground ambience is nice although it can get a little bit too crowded especially on the weekends. Basic needs like food, bike rentals, convenience store, etcetera, are available around the area.
Good people around (made a special request and they were easily okay with it)/Ready to Eat food are cheap too!!/Location is great
CONS: (Constructive criticism, I believe they could do better) Pay 5 pesos for a half filled regular sized timba everytime you use the toilet for bath or when nature calls/ Huts are too basic for the price (800/2pax,mattress is super thin, fan being used is probably the cheapest in the market, small pillows, old pillow cloth that smells very neutral so had to put my clean shirt as "punda" ) /The whole area has bins for recyclables, which is beneficial to management, but I saw none for regular trash so yes, it was dirty around (even the surrounding area of the hut and underneath it has a lot of eye sore trash/ Toilets don't have clothe hooks, only nails where you hang your clothes when bathing/The beach entry is not conducive for swimming, it was trashy when I was there /We came back late at night very tired and realized we weren't provided with bedsheet, no blankets, nothing. Too tired to even ask for it so we just slept away/The area is probably undermanned Also, I only saw like 1 or 2 people cleaning the area, but only collecting the recyclables.
All in all, if you are a local or haven't been to a lot of places like this or a traveler whose ready to do things on the very rough. Sure, give it a go. I would recommend it.
But if you're a backpacker who've stayed and have been to many places like this and have tried simple and cheap but competitive and nicer accommodations, then make a pass on this one. You'll only be disappointed.

Read morewe had rented Kubo for 1200. The place is small and can fit up to 4 to 5 persons. They have provided 1 small ceiling fan and 1 small stand fan. the place is literally intended for people who want to have camping vibes since they offer tents and grilling stations. the sari-sari stone has the things you need (ice pack, charging station, water, etc.) they also have silogan for cheaper prices. the place is near the popular tourist spots (sanctuaries) the downside is the scarcity of the water. We need to pay 5 pesos per half bucket (10 pesos for a full bucket). It's barely enough to take a bath or do your business. there are 3-4 usable toilets so the queue is long. The comfort room and shower room are not separate. due to limited resources of water, some toilet bowls are untidy. the toilet's doors are not properly locked. although the place has a camping ambience, the shore is not ideal for swimming. You won't expect fine white sand but sharp sediments (stones, solidified corals) and seaweeds. We had to visit the nearby beaches for us to fully enjoy the vacation.
Overall, I did enjoy my stay but will not definitely go back or recommend...
