Booked through Booking.com – they only reserve the room, no prepayment FYI. If you bus commute to Lian then onto the hotel, take a jeepney instead of tricycle – it’s cheaper. There’s a one-time P25/head Environmental Fee upon entering Matabungkay.||||Agnes and staff were nice and accommodating, though when we arrived at 3pm, there was no electricity/water until 6pm. We swam in the in-house pool to cool off while waiting. Room was nice, has our own bathroom, paid extra P500 for an extra mattress for my kid.||||They have an open restaurant on the second floor, though I found it inconvenient for the staff to keep going up and down the stairs from kitchen on first floor to restaurant to bring our food. I think that layout should have been planned better, especially for rainy days. You can order food for all meal times, even room service or by the pool. The food has Italian and Filipino cuisine available. The restaurant was nice and breezy, especially when it was raining off and on during our stay.||||The beach is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, not right by it, but I thought it was okay since the beach wasn’t too clean at the time since it was raining so much. We only visited once and didn’t go back. We spent all our remaining days in the hotel’s pool, which was great. ||||There’s a 7-11 nearby if you want to get some other things you may have forgotten, also some other stores that sell swimsuits, goggles, etc. There’s also a pizza place we ordered from for lunch. They also just recently opened an AlfaMart on our last day, only a few feet away from the hotel.||||I wouldn’t mind staying here again for a short stay, but just keep in mind how to get there by bus commute. They do offer free parking if you have your own car, just need to let them...
Read moreI would like to say kudos to the management for hiring the best employees a beach resort can have!! The place and room were clean, and everyone--I mean everyone--was super extra nice and accommodating. From the moment we called them and asked about their accommodations and location, up to us leaving the place, you can really feel that the employees really care about their customers.
Ahh, where do I start? I got really excited about reviewing them as my experience was an exceptional one. The place itself was super clean. Come to think of it, we came when typhoon Ompong was just about to leave PAR, and the place was almost spotless. In our vernacular, "parang hindi binagyo sa linis". Amazing! Then came the room... It was smelling like lavender, and the aircon size was just right for the room. They even had complimentary soap and shampoo in the toilet, and it's Italian-made I think... so fab! The pool water was super clean and they only put little chlorine in it, so it doesn't stink like the other pools near the metro. The food is good as well, we even ordered to-go so that we can eat their sumptuous food at home. :)
To Joel, who took our call and was super nice on the phone, to Romeo, who cooked our food, answered all our questions, and assisted us with our bags, and to Agnes, who called the guy-for-hire who grills (paluto) food for the guests (they outsource it), thank you so much for the memorable stay. We surely now have a new favorite...
Read moreSir Joel and staffs were very accommodating and friendly. The room was okay and the food were good.
Location, not beach front but walking distance.
I really love the hotel itself but if you are after for the beach and its scenery, you won't like it.
For me, it doesn't matter if the beach is with black or white sand, as long as the beach is clean, relaxing and the businesses around it are clean too then it's perfect.
Too much BALSA on the shore. It looks like "Squater" sorry for the word. I don't mean to hurt anyone here, but when you look both sides there are so much BALSA . Boats are just parking everywhere. When you look at those things, it feels like you are looking in the area somewhere in Pasig River where there are floating houses and garbages..
I'm not sure if the LIAN/Matabungkay beach is really "pang-masa", maybe yes and at the same time NO..
Because those BALSA and Boats are expensive when you rent. Almost the same price when you do island hoping in Boracay.
I just feel sorry for the the sea, the nature itself. It feels that nobody cares for it. All businesses around it are really just for business.
I hope someone from the goverment do something about it.
I believe, all beaches wether with black or white sand can be like Boracay or Bohol or any famous tourist spot.
All we need is just proper care...
