Mt Pulag SMR Homestay — Hotel in Luzon

Samuel is a great host, he was extremely informative and really helped me prepare for my trip to Mount Pulag. If you are travelling solo, like me, then you should be aware of the numerous steps it takes to reach the Homestay and the admin needed so you can do the hike.

The accommodation is very basic but serves its purpose as a place to get a few hours sleep before the hike.

The lodge is clean and there is space to make your own food, with free coffee available. Though most people simply come for the night before leaving early for the sunrise hike, so no need to cook.

You need to take a motorbike taxi from the DENR office to get to the Homestay, about 30 minutes/12km. Once there, the location of the lodge is perfect, as it is the only lodge at the foot of the mountain. Meaning you don’t need to worry about getting to the starting point early in the morning if you don’t have a private vehicle. You are also right next to the ranger’s office, where you will pay for your guide after registering at the DENR further down the mountain.

There where are lot of things of things that didn't go well in our trip and mostly it wasn't tye honestly fault. They told us there was fast wifi (they didn't say it was per device you had to pay it piso wifi style), 2nd they said food was available, they didn't mention you had to buy it outside and stores close around 7pm, they said there was hot shower, which proved false because water pressure was so low, it didn't even come out of the shower, you have to use a pale and a bucket to take freezing water.

We had to cut our trip short. And again, it wasn't purely their fault... they just omitted some details that would've been otherwise...

The host was amazingly helpful in getting us all settled in as we had some trouble getting up the steep drive there, we were very late. The place was clean, cozy and comfortable. We had an enjoyable stay and even if we couldn't make the climb, we were all impressed with the level of attentiveness the host provided. We will be back soon!
