Palms La Union Beachfront Suites — Hotel in Luzon

We recently stayed at this hotel in La Union, and while the facilities are nice and the location is peaceful and away from the crowds, our overall experience was unfortunately disappointing due to several issues with management and maintenance.

To start, the air-conditioning in some rooms didn’t work for the first three hours after check-in, which made settling in quite uncomfortable. The swimming pool, which the kids were most excited about, was not even ready for use — it still had to be cleaned and “cured,” a major letdown for families expecting to enjoy basic amenities.

There was also a questionable incident involving a broken kitchen knife. The staff tried to charge our group for it, despite the fact that it was already broken before we used it. But what really left a bad taste was the handling of a broken chair and the withholding of our security deposit.

The chairs, which the hotel claims are custom-made from mahogany, were clearly in poor condition. Many were loose, flimsy, and showed signs of long-term wear. One chair broke while someone simply sat on it — a result of weak structure and not negligence. We explained that it was a clear case of wear and tear, but instead of acknowledging the poor condition of their furniture, the staff insisted we pay for the damage.

To make matters worse, they said they’d review their CCTV footage to decide — only for us to find out their cameras don’t even record, and are for live viewing only. So why even bring it up, unless it was just a tactic to stall us and justify keeping the deposit? It felt dishonest and borderline predatory.

Chairs and furniture naturally wear down over time. This was not a result of abuse or negligence, but the unfortunate use of poorly maintained property. For management to push blame onto guests rather than take accountability reflects very poorly on their hospitality practices.

Sadly, I can’t recommend this place until they fix their maintenance issues, train their staff on proper guest relations, and stop using misleading tactics to justify...

I had an incredible stay at Palms - La Union! The property is perfectly situated with a surfing beach right in front, making it ideal for beach lovers and surfers. The presidential suite was spotless, beautifully decorated, and felt very luxurious, with all the furnishings being brand new. The infinity pool was a standout feature, offering stunning sunset views that were truly unforgettable. The hosts Lani and Ems were amazing—super helpful in ensuring we had an awesome stay. They provided great local recommendations, useful tips, and even helped us arrange surfing lessons, which made the trip even more special. The well-equipped communal kitchen was perfect, and nearby hotspots like Kabsat, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Masa were just a short drive away. I can’t recommend this...

We had such a great time staying at Palms for our birthday celebration! The place was cozy and had such a warm, welcoming vibe. The caretaker was super friendly, always available when we needed something, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The owners were also really nice, checking in to make sure everything was going well and making us feel like we were in good hands.

The best part was the view! Being right by the beach was incredible, and when golden hour hit, it was pure magic. The way the light reflected off the water and lit up the whole place, especially the pool area, was breathtaking. It was honestly the perfect backdrop for some unforgettable moments. We left with so many great memories and can’t wait...
