Amathi Diving Resort — Hotel in Mabini

Where to start? My family and I had a wonderful time at Amathi dive resort. We are so grateful for the one week we got to spend this part of Anilao. Even with typhoon + monsoon the first few days, and last minute notice, the owners and entire crew made sure to take great care of us and accommodated our various needs. My mother has tons of allergies and I am on mostly plant based diet and yet McJoy and Thierry, both celebrated owner-chefs, treated us to delicious and nutritious meals, with local and some homegrown ingredients every single day. Of course one comes here for the world class diving that is Anilao. Thierry planned some spectacular diving expeditions everyday. Despite the weather and current season, various marine life are to be had. From frog fishes, stonefish, octopi to daily encounters with massive green sea turtles, every dive is an adventure. Night dive is also very highly recommended, I mean who doesn't get captivated by the sight of a flamboyant cuttlefish? I already miss what feels like a second home and family here in the Philippines. Because that's how Amathi operates, they are one big happy family that welcomes you home with arms wide open. It doesn't get more accommodating and personalized than this. Amathi Diving Resort is a gem in the rough. The only reason our visit to Anilao was enjoyable. Other than Lawom Spa, no one in Anilao is interested in providing an average level of service, for that matter lift a finger to work. Businesses there are only interested in the weekend local crowd from Manila to do “free diving.” Whatever that is.||Amathi’s owner, Thierry has been and still is working really hard, amidst many challenges to make a once mediocre resort into a world class diving resort. Not someone who sits on his laurels and passionate about marine conservation, he has made leaps and bounds since taking over 9 months ago. ||His right hand man, Jhonry, soon to be fully certified instructor, is a valuable asset. With years of experience in these waters and excellent service and attention to detail, he made every single dive, awesome. The dive master Jhonry Lungay is very knowledgeable and works hard to provide a safe and accommodating dive. If you are into photography and looking for something specific to film, he certainly knows enough about the area to ensure you enjoy your dives.

The resort has dive gear for rental, and the number of dives available is only limited by your skill and ability. The house reef just off shore is colorful and filled with many, many different kinds of sea life.
