GV Hotel Camiguin — Hotel in Mambajao

Due to lack of availability in other places on the island we booked GV Hotel. From the description and previous reviews we accepted it would be basic. However our experience was awful...

Firstly our room wasn't clean with hair on the sheets and stains on the linen. The water in the bathrooms is also filthy. We had a room with 2 single beds, one of which had completely collapsed resulting in a very painful back and a lost night's sleep.

We reported this issue very politely to reception and were faced with a turned up face and a shrug. I asked if there were any other rooms and the receptionist rolled their eyes and went out to sweep!?

We had 3 further nights booked with GV but decided after this experience to check out. At this stage we spoke to the next lady on reception and explained the situation hoping for some kind of resolution. She was rude and could not care less.

Therefore my advice to anyone considering here as a place to stay is to steer very clear! Don't ruin your trip to this lovely island...

While the place is quite simple and budget-friendly, it definitely offers great value for the price. The staff were very accommodating and always ready to assist with a smile, which made the stay even more comfortable.One thing I truly appreciated was the sense of security — CCTV cameras are installed throughout the premises, giving me peace of mind during my stay. The location is also a big plus! Room is okay but not so clean, as well as the towels and linens. There's no extra outlet for charging except for the one near the tv which is 5-6 ft from the floor, you'll need an extension wire for charging or ironing your clothes. During our stay, i saw termites on my things which made me worry a bit and checked my things to ensure I wont be bringing termites when I get home. I do not know if the generator is under maintenance during our stay because it was not turned on during the brownout which lasted for almost 1 hour.

The receptionist was friendly but maybe due to lack of staff, we did not receive assistance with our luggages, we carried them to the 2nd floor through the stairs, good that I have a man companion because my luggage was 17kilos plus my backpack.
