as a traveler this is not the first time I checked-in in a hotel/motel. let me share with you my experience with OYO 104 Venetian Hotel in Sta. Cruz, Manila along Aurora Blvd.
I booked last minute for 2 pax. unfortunately, there was no available room for 2 at that time and the only available is single room with twin size bed. I took the chance in booking it thinking that a twin size bed could accommodate 2 pax. true enough that upon check-in the twin size bed can accommodate us as per the front desk agent and there's no need for us to transfer to a bigger or to other hotel because of room availability. upon payment there's a discrepancy between the published rate and the actual rate. the front office manager explained that the published rate is exclusive of tax. on top of it they asked for a P500 deposit for some security issue and for that purpose alone.
after the transaction the front desk agent accompanied us to the hotel lobby because it's separated from the front office. not to mention that the reception area is cluttered with so many things that doesn't make it as the face of the hotel.
when we finally got into our room I hurriedly took-off my shoes and looked for slippers. sad to say there was none! according to the manager it was not covered by the promo rate that we availed. I had no choice but to use the comfort room bare footed. inside the CR the soap dish is corroded, there's no tissue and there's no foot rug, there's a couple of towels tho. I called again the front desk to inquire and sad to say again they don't provide it! the worst is the CR has no exhaust fan! so when you poop the smell of it will circulate in your room until you get used to the smell of your own poop! the bathroom has NO HOT WATER!
in the room there's no hanger/hook for our clothes and the wall mounted TV is tilted facing down. the reason the bracket that holds the TV is defective. bed is comfortably good with a couple of pillows that makes you feel like you have no pillows at all. the AC is comfortably cool but the blanket is not at all a blanket because it's more like a curtain. plus the bed sheet is damaged. lastly there's no trash bin inside the room except the one in the CR.
with all these concerns we decided to keep it anyway because we really need a rest. besides it was the only place we could have there and it was only for a night.
upon check-out I took some pictures of their cluttered front office. the manager asked me why I am taking pictures. then I begun expressing my concerns. it's very disappointing that the front line manager was not receptive as expected of her. instead she's defensive without her knowing that complaints helps her operation improve for a better business in the future. she even threatened me that she will not release my P500 deposit because I only booked for single room and I have a companion with me when I checked-in, that she will charge me for that extra person. I told her that she should informed me of that when we checked-in. after the long discussion she released my deposit upon learning that I am a former hotelier and a vlogger.
to this end I can say that the hotel has a very big potential, sad to say it's being managed in a...
Read moreNo blanket, had to pay for toilet paper, dirt and hair and smell all around and in my bed. The food was extremely low quality for 2200php per night. Strangers entered my room in the evening.||||I did quarantine in this hotel by the Philippines' facilities, they arranged the room for me for more than double the price. (Original double room for 1300php - I got it for 2200php per night).||I got here I told them I didn't want the meal option, so can we decrease the price? They didn't leave any option open, except to say, the price will stay the same with or without a meal. I paid 12000php, so yes, I had some basic expectations about the room.||I entered, it had no window, no BLANKET, no TOILET PAPER, and no key for the room door. I asked them about the blanket to cover myself with, they said it's not available. Asked for the toilet paper, they said I had to pay for it (Most hilarious that 12000php doesn't include one toilet paper roll).||||After this I went thru my bed and the sheets had holes and something smelled super weird in the room.||The corners were full of hair and dirt, no hygiene whatsoever. Moreover, there was construction next door and people were constantly talking and screaming during the day and night. Honestly I thought I can still bear with this, until somebody opened the door on me and wanted to enter my room. I just didn't feel safe and comfortable in my room and had to stay for 5 more nights.||Next day, I thought I will sleep long so at least don't have to stay long awake in this nightmare. But the staff came at 7AM knocking on every door until we wake up to give us our delicate breakfast which was a dry toast bread (no jam, no nothing) with instant noodles (honestly a JOKE).||I am deeply disappointed in this experience and in the fact that there is no responsiveness to make my stay a little bit more pleasant. SO sadly, I cannot do more than complain here and ask for some sort of compensation. Because truly paying 12000php for this is a complete scam.||I really hope the quarantine bureau will take this hotel off their list because it only creates a bad reputation for the organisational system and the...
Read moreCONS:||This is, by far, the worst hotel we've been to. There is no elevator, no generator in case the power goes out, no smoke detectors or sprinklers, the receptionists seem to always disappear when I need to ask questions, the hotel and hotel owner are unreachable despite contacting all the numbers posted on their facebook pages and website. The other review mentioned it was 'near the subway', but there is no SUBWAY in the area - just a regular train that's 4 KM away. There is also no security guard, so I was very worried the entire time we stayed there. There were also riots caused by some rowdy teenagers in front of the building at around past 1AM, and it happened twice during our stay there - there were cops and barangay people just standing around doing nothing. The hotel looked good from the outside, but the staircase was narrow that my carry-on bag kept bumping the walls. It may cause claustrophobic people some real anxiety. First thing that came to mind when I saw the room's interior is the word TACKY, and the furniture were bulky. For the same amount we spent here, we could've stayed in a better hotel. This gives the feel of an apartelle, not hotel in any way. The hallway is sometimes littered with trash, so that's another turn-off.||||PROS:||Really, I couldn't think of anything. I tried so hard to appreciate anything offered by this establishment, but I am...
