I'm going to share an honest review about this used-to-be great hotel resort. I booked for a one-bedroom deluxe suite king room for two nights and spent them a few days ago and it was the most terrible vacation we have ever experienced.
When we got there at around 2PM, parking lot was packed. No bellboy assisted in the unloading of our luggage. The receptionist told me that they upgraded our room to a FAMILY SUITE. She said it was the best room they had. To our surprise it was the last room at the end of the hallway on the south wing. These are the things that we noted about the room:
No cabinet doors Grainy feel of the floor Dust on window sills and TV Water stain marks in the toilet bowl (which I requested for housekeeping to address but no one ever came) Ceiling exhaust in bathroom was not functioning No shower curtain Molds in bath tub and shower area Rusty and broken hot plate stove (should've been removed years ago) Torn pillow cases Balcony full of molds and stagnant water Torn blinds Bed was creaking and mattress was sunken
You would think that after paying for a P10,000 per night room you will get top-notch accommodation. You can check their official website and the photo gallery, which I believe were taken 15 years ago. The receptionist gave us a downgrade instead of an upgrade. On the second day they informed me that we were to be transferred to the type of room that I originally booked. I agreed after speaking to the manager that we were to be relocated on the same level and nearer to the entrance/exit of the building. Comparatively, our second room was a bit better, although the molds in the usual places were still there. We were able to manage this time. This one has no intercom/phone though.
By the way, this five-storey south wing building only has one (1) means of ingress and egress. One that links to the lobby. The secondary exit at the far left of the building was blocked. As evidenced by the attached photos, our second room does not have a fire escape plan and the smoke detectors were not functioning as well. For those who have come to this place, you will notice that it only has one (1) means of fire exit, and that is through the lobby. There are no fire extinguishers or fire hose cabinets to be seen on the entire 2nd level also. I could not say the same for the upper floors. The local law enforcers (BFP and Office of the Building Official) should look into this matter if they are compliant with the laws and municipal ordinances, in my opinion.
To speak briefly about the balcony outside the lobby, tiles were due for repair and the wooden trusses were deteriorated. I can compare the exterior of the hotel, the one that is fronting the beach, to an old cathedral which is about a century year old.
At the pool area, people were being allowed to eat while swimming. Maybe that would explain also why it was colored aquamarine instead of the bluish color you would expect. The management was too lax or maybe they're not capable of handling such a large number of guests at a given time.
All in all I would give this hotel resort a one-star rating since a negative rating is not permitted. Thank you Canyon Cove Hotel for such a HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE that would serve as a reminder to us never to believe immediately on advertisements even if they're on the...
Read moreTotal disappointment from the second I got to the property. They know they have a check in problem because they bought Disneyland style serpentine posts to handle their 1.5 hour check-in Que. So obviously, the lobby was full of tired and frustrated people who had probably traveled just as long as I had to get to their relaxing hotel.
Instead of buying serpentine ropes to handle the crowd, maybe try buying a few more computers and hiring additional staff so all of your guests don’t start their experience angry.
That was pretty much my entire experience. Corners cut, maintenance, neglected, property way past its prime, and staff that I’m sure is just as overworked and underpaid as the rest of the facility.
I can’t remember the last time I walked away from a restaurant in the middle of a meal, but the food there was way overpriced and terrible. I had a friend tell me one time that if you see flies in the dining room, it means there are maggots in the kitchen. I didn’t see the kitchen so I can’t say for sure, but I’m guessing it is filthy. There were so many flies in the dining room that there were literally dead flies laying on every table, flies, crawling on the utensils, and of course flies landing on every piece of food. Within five minutes, I had had a fly land in my soup, and five minutes after that, I had another fly land in and get stuck in my food. That’s when it was time for me to abandon my meal and run away from their restaurant. Disgusting.
It’s always a bad sign when they don’t allow outside food. It’s kind of a stupid policy in the first place. If you offer yummy food at even a slightly elevated price, your guest will happily eat what you give them. But if you’re serving trash at an outrageous price, the only way anybody will eat your food is if they have no choice. Gross.
The activities were completely unused when I was there. Same thing. Milk the property squeeze every guest, jack up your prices, and watch everything sit empty. Kind of stupid on the part of management. Much better to price your stuff fairly so your guests don’t feel abused, and you actually get to earn some revenue instead of watching all of your toys sit empty on the beach. And 8000 pesos for two stop Island hopping? What a joke.
So I finally get to my room and I do a speed test because Internet is very important to me and it was advertised that there was Wi-Fi in the rooms. I left a picture of my speed test. I guess you can legally call that Wi-Fi, but if you’re doing anything more than texting , it’s useless. If you depend on Internet for work like I do, absolutely positively do not stay at this property. Again, note to the management. Welcome your guest, feed them well, price them fairly, provide them with modern services like Internet, translation spend a little money. You’re charging plenty and you obviously have enough guests that you’re making enough money to afford a little bit of Internet. Obviously the owner of the property just wants to cash in on the guest, not provide a great experience.
On the upside, everything God gave the property is wonderful. The location is fantastic, the water is clean, the beach is beautiful, and the sunset was amazing. Everything man put on the property was a...
Read moreWe had the worst and saddest experience at Canyon Cove Hotel & Spa in Nasugbu. We booked an overnight stay with my family and relatives in four rooms from August 14–15. Everyone was excited since it was our first time at this resort. We were expecting a lot because it looked so beautiful in the pictures and we also read some good reviews. Sadly, what awaited us was nothing short of a nightmare.
Check-in went smoothly, and since it was raining at the time, we asked the front desk if there were any available rooms around 1 PM as we had two senior citizens with us. They told us there were no higher-level rooms available yet but offered us four rooms on the first floor. We accepted, thinking it would be more convenient for our senior companions. Unfortunately, this was where the nightmare began. After enjoying the beach and pool, we returned to our rooms (my mom, cousin, fiancé, and I were assigned to Room 112), only to discover the following issues:
NEGATIVE: The shower room had no glass door, so every time we took a bath, the entire bathroom floor outside the shower was flooded. Both the shower and faucet ran at the same time, and the shower water pressure was extremely weak. The air-conditioning unit leaked, dripping water onto the TV counter table. The balcony sliding door couldn’t be opened. We even requested assistance from the receptionist, but it was never fixed. The room was old, poorly maintained, and clearly neglected.
Sadly, it wasn’t just our room. All four rooms we booked had the same poor condition. I raised my concern with the supervisor, and although he upgraded our room, the rest of my family had no choice but to stay in their subpar rooms since there were no other available rooms left. To make matters worse, the supervisor even admitted that because of the high number of bookings, they could not maintain the quality of the rooms and instead had to focus only on preparing them quickly for incoming guests. This was very disappointing because it meant we did not get the value we paid for.
The only positive thing about this resort was the beach, the pool, and the male receptionist who assisted me and was genuinely accommodating. Everything else was below standard.
On top of that, we even experienced flooding inside the resort premises. The staff had to manually remove the water and drain it toward the beach area. It was inconvenient and gave us an impression of how poorly the resort is built and maintained.
Overall: This resort is outdated, lacks proper maintenance, and desperately needs major improvements. We paid a significant amount of money for four rooms, yet the quality we received was unacceptable. The building itself has obvious structural issues, with molds, termite damage, dark hallways with no lighting, and dirty surroundings.
If Canyon Cove cannot maintain their rooms and facilities properly, they should either close for renovation or drastically improve their services and upkeep. Right now, it feels like guests are only paying for the beach and pool while being forced to stay in substandard, unsafe, and uncomfortable accommodations. Definitely not worth the price and not worth...
