Magic Island Resort — Hotel in Nueva Valencia

Magic Island was my hosts' excellent choice for my seminar requirements. It's quite a distance from the nearest urban area but right smack where one can appreciate nature's beauty. Even with the presence of a good number of facilities in the small island, trees and plants still abound. The grass is manicured Cobbled paths enable you to walk around and enjoy the place. We get a scenic view of the open sea and nearby islands from our room. Nearby Swan Island is available should an even "quieter" place is needed but was used to lodge some of our participants. The main hall accommodated our nearly hundred participants for plenary sessions. We had exclusive use of the island enabling me to conduct my activities free of distractions. Even the absence of television sets from our rooms worked to my advantage - it enabled participants to be more contemplative and rested. Food was okay; shrimps and fish abounded as expected. I had my meals in the restobar. We took a refreshing dip at the moderate-sized pool one night. Some opted to do karaoke singing and some dancing at the main hall. Service was excellent. The staff was ultra courteous, cheerful, and alert. My wife and I were checked in the airconditioned rooms with the best view of the sea but other rooms, including Vietnamese houses for the more adventurous were available. Our room was spacious and clean and had a well-functioning aircon. There were some cons though. Internet connection was strongest only at the restobar; it was weaker elsewhere. Getting a signal for my phone was also a challenge. But these were minor compared to the pros for the venue. Going to and coming from the island can be a unique experience, especially during low tide. How I hoped we had the time to go island hopping. That's something to look forward to should I get to...

2 days 1 night stay for our boss's post birthday celebration. It was our boss who made the arrangements with them. Our boss made sure everything we want for our stay can be accommodated. We read the reviews on Facebook but there were plenty of negative comments left. Most of the negative reviews are about the changes with what was previously agreed between the owner and the guests. Our boss asked to talk to someone else and not the owner who probably has a reputation of changing agreements. |Daring our stay, I personally like the room especially the balcony area where the other islands can be seen. Rooms are clean and the bathroom too. There is also a swimming pool which we usually look for in an accommodation even if we can swim on the beach, but we didn't because we didn't feel like it. I was more amazed with the serving of their meals. We had more than enough shrimps on one of our meals. We were always full. I would come back again, as long as we make a deal with other persons at the resort aside...
