Hotel Avenija — Hotel in Olongapo

I was nervous walking in. The reviews are mixed and my cab driver told me I wouldn't like it. I was off work & traveling for fun but I was in my flight attendant uniform so I think people expect me to want a little bit of luxury but that's not me. I just need a clean room in a good location.

The room is very bare bones, very basic. Doesn't have a window. It's tiny but it's clean, they supply toiletries, it has an air conditioner and it was cozy. Nothing about it bothered me. It's definitely not fancy so if that's what you're looking for, this isn't for you. I genuinely enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

The girl who checked me in was very nice & personable. Good customer service. I would rate her 10/10.

I loved the location. It wasn't a touristy neighborhood, but there were tons of friendly people, lots of excellent street food, a 7-11 around the corner, several restaurants that are open 24 hours, including a small, locally owned spot with huge vats and dishes of homemade Filipino deliciousness, and it was right across the street.

It is a neighborhood of real people, with older buildings that could use some love. The Phillipines is a developing country and some of that is evident in the neighborhood but the people and the food make it a great location. I felt like this was a fairly authentic cultural experience.

More for travelers who just need a place to leave their stuff and sleep in. Not for someone who plans to also do stuff indoors.

The staff are nice and friendly. Check-in and check-out are quick and efficient.

Wifi wasn't consistent while I was there and data signal inside is awful (no Globe signal, very week Smart signal).

The biggest issue is probably accessibility for PWDs: entrance is at the second floor and there's no elevator or escalator. The bathroom is also raised above the room floor for some reason and it's quite high (a third of a meter?) without intermediate steps. So not for someone with mobility challenges and maybe not for someone with very heavy luggage.

I booked this hotel because the photos online honestly looked great, but the actual experience was disappointing. The place felt unsafe, no security guard, and the rooms, walang double lock. We didn’t feel secure enough to stay the night.

The overall vibe was creepy. The dim hallways felt like something was watching from every door, and at night, it felt like someone could knock or suddenly come in. It just didn’t feel right.

The room looked clean, but there was an old, musty smell, probably due to the building’s age. Sayang coz the location is ideal and the price is very affordable sana.
