So, I booked a stay at Hola Beach Resort through direct booking. We reserved 3 nights from July 5 to July 8 and booked their 3-Bedroom Villa, which is good for 6 people. I chatted with someone through their Facebook pageâthatâs where I made the reservation. It was convenient because they responded quickly regarding the payment process.
Since I was visiting from Canada to the Philippines, I decided to go ahead, even though they have a no-refund policy for the down payment. I still gave it a go because the photos they post online looked nice and inviting.
When we arrived at Hola Beach Resort, the staff greeted us, which was nice. However, we had to wait 3 hours at their so-called restaurant or reception area because we arrived earlyâbefore the 2 PM check-in time. There were no complimentary drinks or even water. One staff member gave us 3 NescafĂ© coffee sticks, and we thought those were freeâbut we were charged for them at checkout.
I wasnât expecting 5-star treatment, but at least I hoped for a decent experience.
We finally checked in and went inside the villa. Right away, it smelled bad. The villa looked more like a storage room. One of the sinks was clogged. Yes, there were 3 air-conditioned rooms, but it felt like no one had stayed there for a long time. The smell was like old books, and the floor was dusty.
We informed the staff, and they said they would fix itâbut nothing happened.
The bathroom had no complimentary soap, not even drinking glasses. It was very disappointing, and I honestly canât recommend Hola Beach Resort. The owner or the person I initially chatted with never followed up to ask how our stay was goingâwe heard nothing from them.
While taking a shower, the bathroom floor would slowly flood, and the next person had to wait for the water to drain.
They also donât allow cooking in the villa or on the beach, which we understand. But when I messaged the person on their Facebook page to clarify, they just read the message and never responded.

   Read moreIt has been a nice stay. The staff are very pleasent and go out of their way to greet you and make you feel comfortable. Upon check in I asked if I could have my medication refrigerated, and was informed that it would be an extra cost which was a disappointment. The in house restaurant was surprising, better than some of the restaurants I've been to locally. Good portion sizes and tasty. The Chef is an asset to Hola. We stayed in one of the beachfront villas. Comfortable with the AC, and private cr. Altho the cr could do with a multuric acid clean to clean the scum off the walls and floor. The floor in the cr doesn't fall the water to the drain so there is water sitting on the floor all the time. There is a soap dispenser in the cr without any soap which was disappointing. To their credit there was 2 rolls of tissue in the cr, 2 shower heads, hot water, a bucket and taboo and a bidet for your choice. The bed was comfortable with 2 pillows and sheets. There is an issue with dogs at the resort. There is a house dog that is fine and wonders around. But the other stray dogs will steal your food, sit on the guests chairs, fight and poop around the property like they own the place. Nous avons sĂ©journĂ© dans ce resort aux Philippines, mais malheureusement notre expĂ©rience a Ă©tĂ© largement en dessous de ce que lâon peut attendre dâun resort.
DĂšs notre arrivĂ©e, les problĂšmes ont commencĂ©. Nous avions rĂ©servĂ© un van pour un transfert depuis le port jusquâau logement qui avait Ă©tĂ© confirmĂ© par lâĂ©tablissement. Une fois sur place lâhĂŽtel nous supprime notre transfert car le chauffeur nâĂ©tait pas disponible et aucune solution nâa Ă©tĂ© mise en place : on nous a simplement dit de nous dĂ©brouiller par nos propres moyens et de prendre un tricycle. Une prise en charge inexistante, sans alternative proposĂ©e. Une fois sur place, lâaccueil fut marquĂ© par des excuses Ă moitiĂ© sĂ©rieuses et des rires dĂ©placĂ©s.
Nous avions rĂ©servĂ© pour trois personnes, en espĂ©rant avoir des huttes proches les unes des autres. Ce ne fut pas le cas : elles Ă©taient Ă©loignĂ©es, sans quâon nous donne dâexplication. Cela aurait pu ĂȘtre un simple dĂ©tail si les autres soucis ne sâĂ©taient pas accumulĂ©s ensuite.
Le soir mĂȘme, nous demandons Ă rĂ©server trois scooters pour le lendemain matin. La responsable nous assure que câest notĂ©. Le lendemain, mauvaise surprise : seuls deux scooters sont disponibles, car elle nâavait pas lu correctement le message de sa collĂšgue. Une gestion approximative et frustrante.
Autre point trompeur : on nous a dit Ă notre arrivĂ©e, de nuit, que la vue mer Ă©tait derriĂšre notre hutte. Ce nâest que le lendemain matin, Ă la lumiĂšre du jour, que nous avons constatĂ© que ce nâĂ©tait pas du tout le cas. Il fallait en rĂ©alitĂ© traverser le resort pour y accĂ©der.
Les problĂšmes de propretĂ© se sont ensuite rapidement fait sentir : la salle de bains nâa jamais Ă©tĂ© nettoyĂ©e durant notre sĂ©jour et le distributeur de savon nâa pas Ă©tĂ© rempli.
Concernant le service de laverie, nous devions récupérer notre linge sous 24h et cause de mauvais temps nous avons dû attendre deux jours.
Aucune recommandation ne nous a été faite pour les activités ou excursions locales. Le personnel ne semblait pas formé ou motivé à nous aider à découvrir les environs.
La communication en anglais Ă©tait Ă©galement difficile avec plusieurs membres de lâĂ©quipe, et, surtout, aucune solution ne nous a jamais Ă©tĂ© proposĂ©e face aux problĂšmes rencontrĂ©s. Nous avons dĂ» quĂ©mander un discount mais câest Ă peine si on lâa eu. Au lieu de ça, les employĂ©s se contentaient de rire Ă chaque situation, ce qui Ă©tait particuliĂšrement malvenu.
Les seuls points rĂ©ellement positifs : un lieu tout de mĂȘme charmant avec des cabanes confortables ! Et le restaurant, trĂšs bon, avec un cuisinier adorable, toujours souriant et professionnel. Dommage que le reste du service ne soit pas Ă la hauteur.
