I have read the reviews of some travellers to Auschwitz and I find them to be quite incredible, especially the people who complain! This hotel is basic. It costs about £34 per night. With that price, you should not expect the hotel, the people who work there, the rooms or the food to be up to the standard enjoyed back in merry old England. It is Poland. It is not England. If you have a specific food allergy, upgrade to a hotel were you might pay £100 per night then all your dreams will come true. Who should stay here? I stayed and I loved the cheapness, the spartan food and the non responsive Hoteliers. Why? Because that is what you expect when you pay buttons to stay there. And almost finally, If those reasons weren't enough, Its Auschwitz, it's not the costa del sol were every whim is catered for if you are English. Surprisingly, they don't serve chicken nuggets or or pies. Given the size of Auschwitz, it beggars belief why anyone would spend longer than nights or breakfasts in the hotel. I have eaten superbly in Polish restaurants and bars. You just have to shake off the, "I'm English and expect English food to be served were ever I go and people to behave and rooms to be kept as if i am back in England," belief. Finally, the hotel is across the road from a death camp. While everybody complains about this and that and the kids are crying in a death camp and it also beggars belief why anyone would bring children to a death camp, how about sparing a thought for the souls in Auschwitz who didn't see their families again? The burned up bodies into dust in the grey lake, the belongings scattered at 'Canada' the prostitutes servicing the Nazi's in what is now the booking office at Auschwitz 1. The men, women and children in the crematorium in Auschwitz 1, or the death block and firing wall and torture chambers underneath. The hospital across the road were Josef Mengele carried out operations on twin children without anaesthetic. Armed with all of this information, how about getting your petty complaining lives into some kind of...
Read moreEasy and quick check-in, helpful staff. Literally across the road from the Auschwitz camp/museum. Very convenient. Free parking at the hotel. Good sized room and adequate bathroom. Was very clean and everything worked in the room. Good wifi. Buffet breakfast was good, and well stocked. Good choice of foods – limited hot food, but 2-3 choices of cereals, fruits, breads, cheese/meat, juices, etc. Restaurant is open all day and has very good food for dinner – we ate there both nights we stayed at this hotel – staff very friendly and helpful. Would happily recommend this hotel.||Only complaint is that when booking this hotel online, although they quoted the price in PLN and said the payment would be taken from my credit card in PLN, they converted to Pounds sterling (my card's currency) and used a terrible rate. They denied it - but when we got to the hotel and they gave me the credit card slip, it clearly said they'd converted to GBP and that I'd been given the option of being charged in PLN or GBP and had chosen GBP. That is NOT TRUE - I'd asked to be charged in PLN, and they told me they had.||Just beware of this trick (lots of businesses do it - because they can make extra money by converting at a really bad rate - i.e. bad for the customer,...
Read moreI recently stayed at Hotel Olecki and was absolutely amazed and touched by the kindness and professionalism of the staff. All three receptionists were outstanding, but one in particular went above and beyond. When I sought help at night because my husband started to feel sick, this wonderful receptionist provided lemon, tea, and tissues, showing such a great act of kindness that I'll never forget.
The room was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully provided with free bottles of water for all of us. The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of choices, and the highlight was definitely the crepes—what a treat!
Additionally, the hotel's location is very convenient, being close to Auschwitz, and there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, making transportation easy.
Overall, my stay at Hotel Olecki was exceptional, thanks to the incredible staff and the comfort of the amenities. Highly...
