I am very disappointed.||This hotel is not designed for couples and families but for mass tourist transit, and it is not all clean or welcoming. ||Our first night had five busloads of tourists, and everything was designed for quantity rather than quality. The coffee at breakfast could be better, a very bottom-range robusta bean. I had to order a pay-for coffee from the bar, which was only marginally better as I could not stand the bitterness of the breakfast coffee. The buffet breakfast is unappetising, the pancakes dry, the butter still frozen, little choice, etc. As for the rooms. There is no hot water jug nor spoon for me to prepare my carioca de lemaõ, which I drink for my health. Only water bottles were available at a hefty price. The beds were made the Asian way: no upper sheet, just a very thin duvet with a cover and while it is acceptable to some, it was a novelty to me.||There were hygiene issues; the dispensers of hand sanitiser were all empty. The sauna and indoor pool shower areas stank of urine. (the hotel reception told us it was probably a faulty canalisation… but the toilets are a floor below the sauna, and maintenance should have closed the area for repairs!!!) The jacuzzi had vert de gris algae growth over its vents, people were wearing outdoor shoes around the indoor pool area, judging from looking at the dirt on the ground tiles, and no one supervised guests for safety or hygiene. It was so dirty. After that, I did not enter the pool for fear of catching something. ||It was a very frustrating experience, considering I chose to stay in that hotel for its indoor pool and sauna. Having worked and stayed in hotels worldwide, I thought I knew well what quality standard to expect from a 4-star hotel!!!!! I am fast revising my beliefs and expectations downward, as far as Evora Hotel is...
Read moreAn experience from hell. If you are in the area, I recommend trying other options, but this one. When we come in, one may think that the reception area is great and that the outside of the hotel may be simply ugly, but inside great. My experience though, is that passing the reception, the experience is everything but good. The rooms are old, with old carpet, with the door to the bathroom somewhat dirty, that I hope I don't have to describe what is on the door. Under the taps, it would be good if it were clean, but no such luck. The bath curtain also had leftovers of someone else's shower gel. Then comes the room experience... The bed only has a really warm duvet, which during the summertime, in a city that has over 35C, makes you either sleep without anything covering you, or you have to turn on the AC. There is no middle option. Calling the reception desk at 10.30 pm is also not an option, they don't answer. One had to dress again and go down to ask them please give us a simple bed sheet, because sleeping with the constant noise of the AC is not an option, and also because of the possibility of getting a cold. Asked for a bed sheet at reception, it is full of stains... The swimming pool does not have a service. If one needs drinks, we have to come into the hotel bar to order them, but because swimming suit only is not allowed in, one has to dress and undress to go in and ask for drinks. The staff is nice, but that alone does not make it to say that this is worth staying at. I have stayed in 3-star hotels...
Read moreTitle: Disappointing Experience at Evora Hotel
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
I recently stayed at Evora Hotel in Portugal, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the lobby impressed me with its aesthetics, and the service was average, there were significant issues that overshadowed any positives.
The most frustrating problem was the malfunctioning air conditioner. Despite the hotel's claims that it was centrally controlled, it failed to provide adequate cooling in my room. Moreover, it appeared that many other rooms also suffered from excessive heat, making the overall comfort level subpar. Despite notifying the staff about the issue, their response was indifferent, showing little concern or urgency to address the problem.
As a guest, it was disheartening to witness the discrepancy between the comfortable lobby temperature and the uncomfortable living conditions in the rooms. It felt as if the management prioritized appearances over the well-being of their guests.
Considering the importance of a pleasant stay, I cannot recommend Evora Hotel to others. The lack of attention towards resolving the air conditioning issue and the seeming apathy from the staff reflects poorly on the overall experience. For those seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay, it would be best to explore other accommodation options in the area.
I hope that the management of Evora Hotel takes note of these concerns and takes appropriate steps to improve the quality of their guests' experiences...
