Casa Marcelo — Hotel in Óbidos

Please read this before you consider staying at Casa Marcelo. My family and I stayed at the property in July 2018. The owner of the property (Carlos) has falsely accused us of inflicting damage to a kitchen appliance and has retained our entire €500 damage deposit to replace it. He has failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove we done this and unfortunately we have no evidence to prove otherwise. He has stopped responding to my emails and is now ignoring all forms of contact. Having stayed in a villa for the first time this year we wasn’t aware we should take photos of the entire property before we left in case something like this happened. HomeAway’s customer service team told us ‘we take a leap of faith in our owners so they don’t need to provide sufficient evidence’. HomeAway also have no set polices or procedures in place on behalf of the customer so I would recommend you book through a site that can offer support and guidance in the event that something like this happens. Fantastic house in a great location, it has everything one needs, 5 bedrooms, pool, fully equipped kitchen, pool table. Short walk to the beach and the ocean. We stayed there in early September 2022, weather was nice, we rented a car and travelled to Obidos, Caldas de Rainha, Lisbon, Nazare, Peniche and even Cascais as all these places are easily within reach.

Carlos was a great host, always replied promptly to our messages, always with great insights and advice on where to visit next. Some reasonable restaurants in the village serving fresh sea food, a lot more in Obidos and...

Thank you Casa Marcelo for hosting 10 friends from the UK for a birthday weekend.  They all had a first class time. This amazing house has 5 ensuite rooms so they all had their own space with a huge open planned living space. The kitchen is exceptionally equipped with everything you would ever need.
