Monte do Cardal — Hotel in Aljezur

A fantastic B&B! We received a very friendly welcome with explanation, restaurant tips, things to do and a small tour of the premises. We arrived early, so our room was not ready yet. No problem; they gave us towels and we relaxed by the pool and we could order lunch which was delicious. The premises is spacious, nicely designed, well maintained (beautiful flowers) and set in a peaceful/quiet surrounding. We stayed in a really nice, contemporary apartment with a small terrace in front of the apartment. The beds are very good and the spacious bathroom has a great shower (bathrobes present). All apartments/rooms are situated close to/ around the pool. We were very impressed with the extensive and delicious breakfast! So much to choose from and all fresh products. It is also possible to have dinner at Monte do Cardal, if you let them know in the morning. Which was nice (and delicious) after a great day at the beach with a surf lesson from instructorJoao Silva (Surfseixe Academy) at Praia de Odeceixe. A great tip from Monte do Cardal. One of the best B&B I have stayed in. It is new and has been in operation only a few months. The location is out of the way so you will need a car. It is not easy to find the place but with GPS and we managed. The staff is very helpful and soooo friendly.. We needed to do our laundry after being in Portugal for a while and there is a nice laundry place in Aljezur but we needed a large basket to bring back our clothes and the B&B let us use one and also the clothes line was also available to be used by anyone. So we did and luckily for us that day no-one else needed them! Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The bread tasted fresh and warm as well as the pastries freshly baked. the Orange juice was just so yummy. Our room was not huge but adequate and there was everything one could need. The only negative was perhaps the wardrobe...it was just too small to put all our clothes but most people maybe do not stay long therefore they may not need to have so much space. We always like to unpack even for 2 days. We were there 4 nights.

We loved Monte do Cardal- a little oasis in the middle of nowhere. Luxurious to have a car, but with taxis and Uber you can manage, too. Very nice compound, with gardens and pool. Best enjoyed in good weather. If you can, choose a pool facing room for a sunny terrace. We were hiking the Fishermans Trail and stayed for two nights. The breakfast was fantastic- fresh fruit, juice, varieties of bread, cake, eggs. André was very helpful upon check-in, recommending restaurants. Bicycles were also available. The room (back-facing) was ok, on the smaller side. Nice shower...
