This new and well-conceived guest house offered modern rooms inside a renovated traditional building that blends right into the medieval streets in the heart of the great fortress of Almeida. I was pleasantly surprised, doubly so to find it was only steps from the great walls I had come to see.||||The proprietors, a professional couple, are conscientious and evidence of their emphasis on quality and tasteful design is everywhere: the superb bed and linen, the sleek bathroom and shower, the shared sitting room on each floor (each with roaring fire), the rooftop deck with views over the surrounding plateau, and the inviting lounge/bar/breakfast room. This is above average accommodation suitable for a romantic getaway, a weekend in the high country, or the mature traveller exp!oring the region, as i was.||||I had a quiet night, even though most of the rooms were occupied, and enjoyed the included light breakfast buffet. While this guest house has no restaurant, I was able, in the evening, to sit in the lovely lounge and sample some local cheese and wine. There are 3 restaurants within walkng distance. Indeed the town is a delight to wander after dark.||||No parking is offered but it was not difficult to find a spot on the street. Overall, the price was appropriate and the welcome warm. We also had access to a fully equipped kitchen and lounge area with a roaring log burner.|Breakfast was the most varied, fresh and delicious we had had during our travels.|The owners could not have been more attentive and helpful, even advising us on a festival in the neighbouring village the day of our departure |I would recommend O Revelim to anybody who finds themselves in this part of the world, it is excellent...
