I needed to visit the Arganil tax office and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. My mother cannot walk so the lift was a great bonus. Our room was large and spotlessly clean from the floor/bathroom/bed linen. Excellent large towels with plenty of hot water.||||The young lady who checked us in realised that we were very tired and offered an in room snack+drinks. A very thoughtful and very welcome suggestion.||||Breakfast was fabulous. Fresh fruit/cereals/eggs(any way you liked)/bacon/ham/cheese. A beautiful selection of fresh rolls/bread and facility to make toast. Hot and cold milk a vast selection of teas as well as a coffee machine or coffee in an urn. Juices as well. Cake and quince jams to finish off.||||The hotel has 2 huge lounges (one a bar) with TVs and very comfortable furniture.||||This is a family owned hotel and the attention to detail is a real credit to the owners and all staff.||||Arganil has everything you'd need as a base for the Sera da Estrela, Piadoa etc. A nice drive to Coimbra-all on the door step.||It also has a good Thursday market.||||A GREAT hotel!...

However, they have no control over the neighbor's dog and it seems to be the norm in Portugal that TV's are always on in restaurants and bars. Overall, a nice stay. The owners' son personally drove us around to various local restaurants to orient us to the options, and all of his...
