This is a gem of a small hotel overlooking the Douro. However, there are some features visitors should be aware of. There are no elevators at ground level. Access is either via steps to the dining room on the first floor or via a steep ramp to reception one floor higher. In theory a vehicle might offload a wheelchair user ar the top of the ramp but it could be a precarious procedure. Within the hotel there are elevators between the floors. ||Also, the hotel does not have a pool or a restaurant in-house. A buffet breakfast is served in the dining room. Drinks and snacks are available in the lounge, the patio overlooking the river or the rooms. (There are several restaurants a short drive away and a Michelin-starred restaurant, which we didnt sample, across the road that runs between the hotel and the river.)||The rooms, which overlook the river, - there are 15 - are modest in size but perfectly adequate. Arriving guests will find a half bottle of wine and a litre of water to welcome them - but no kettle, or coffee maker. ( The hotel has 3 stars.) Transporting suitcases inside might be challenging were it not for the willing assistance proferred by the staff. Three young women arrived at our car to help us transfer several bags and other gear to our room. Indeed, in my many years of travelling, I have never encountered quite such charming or helpful staff. ||The spotless interior is done out in timber and pastel-colours. As an older man with a bad back, I was delighted by the sympathetic mattress in our room and the soft- cushioned chairs in the lounge and dining room. ||This is not the place to stay if you are looking for a spa and heated pool to spoil yourself,. But for simple comfort and hospitality, you...

The sister hotel at the Pacheca Winery did not have a room to extend our stay and directed us to Hotel Folgosa for a one night stay.||The Folgosa staff welcomed us warmly and provided exceptional customer service. |Our room had a small door that opened to a view of the sundeck overlooling the Duouro River. It allowed us to get a fresh breeze while laying in our comfortable bed. Our bathroom had a tub/shower combination and a bidet. Lots of closet space for luggage storage.||The deck view of the nearby vineyards and quiet of the river valley were a great break from the hectic pace of the city.||The breakfast was excellent. A bottle of water and the excellent Pacheca Tawny Port are provided free of charge. |Only downside to the peacefulness of this location is the lack of many food choices. A higher priced gourmet resturant, DOC is across the street.|A short distance away, up a small hill, you will find a small resturant that offers tasty sandwiches and a variety of soft drinks and beer. |Thank you for taking such great...

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we appreciated the more than 22 free parking spots—a huge plus! The staff was friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The boat packing further down the town was amazing!
The only drawback was the hot water in the shower. It was tricky to get it at the right temperature—it was either scorching hot or cold, which made it difficult to enjoy a comfortable shower. Not very wheelchair access friendly. But an awesome 2 floor hotel!!
Overall, though, we had a great experience and would recommend this hotel to others, especially for its convenient parking and lovely...
