Hotel Rota Malhoa — Hotel in Figueiró dos Vinhos

I'm not going to lie, I chose this hotel firstly because it was located bang in the middle of the area we were due to house hunt, and secondly because it was the cheapest. In actual fact amazingly good value and a perfect base for the week. Very friendly and helpful staff, it is clearly a family run hotel, and there was always someone on hand had we needed anything, not at all imposing. The room was exceptionally clean, cool (the weather being unseasonably warm) and there was air con had things got even hotter. Clean bed linen and towels EVERY day, crisp and white. En suite bathroom, with bath, shower, excellent water pressure and endless hot water, bidet and toilet. Breakfast was continental, in a purpose built breakfast room simply furnished but pristine. superb coffee with choice of hot or cold milk, or, tea if required, fruit juice, freshly baked rolls, cheese, ham and good selection of jams to accompany a brioche style croissant - all lovely. Nothing fancy, fussy or "posh" just good honest, clean and comfortable accommodation. Would go again if the need arose for certain. The town of Figueiro dos Vinhos is incredibly pretty too, like much of this area...

Very clean and roomy, in a quiet area. Owners are nice people, greeting you personally. Free parking in a secured backyard is a huge plus. The breakfast is one of the best, especially home-baked cake. And it's also free. And we got some cake for us to go too! In about 10 min walk there is a nice restaurant to have dinner upon arrival. Location was also great for us because we needed place for a night before visiting Fragas...

Don't let the official ratings put you off this friendly family run hotel in a gorgeous town. Yes it is 2 star but it is clean, comfy and very friendly. I have stayed at worse supposed 5 star.
