Lazareto 148 Hostel — Hotel in Funchal

I stayed for 3 nights. The check-in was chaotic. I waited nearly 30 minutes for any staff to appear. The dorm was poorly maintained: squeaky, shaky bunk beds and thin mattresses which is why I could barely sleep. The bathrooms were often out of toilet paper, and soap didn't exist. Additionally, there were bright lights from the hallway that flooded the room through the door’s window.

Noise was constant, with late-night chatter and music, making it impossible to fall asleep. The atmosphere felt tense, and even basic cleanliness was neglected.

The owner was cold and didn't try to help

Really nice hostel! It is clean and the stuff and owner are friendly. Kitchen works well and bathrooms are good. I would recommend to have a car, anyways you should have a car to properly explore Madeira, there is space to park car next to the road. My favorite place is the outside area with a view of the sea surrounded by banana trees and the outside area has a nice hang out area to sit and couple of sunchairs. Je n'ai pas pu séjourner chez eu. Via la réservation booking . J'ai voulu prendre une nuit de plus mais ça ne collé pas avec l'autre logement je me suis donc rétracter en lui laissant un message pour revenir à une réservation initial, sauf qu'il avait accepté entre temps. Et pas de réponse sur le fait de revenir à une réservation initial. N'ayant pas payé le complément de la nuit supplémentaire, toute ma réservation à été annulée, malgré mes efforts envers booking et le loueur (que j'ai croisé car je me suis déplacé, il n'a pas communiqué et est partie), je n'ai pas pu être remboursé ni relogé Il a empocher mes sous et à relouer le lit Double bénef pour lui, double frais pour moi. Attention donc ,il n'y a pas d'arrangement possible. Si il voit ce commentaire , je m'engage à le retirer si il accepte d'annuler ma réservation...
