Pura Comporta — Hotel in Grândola

Our family stayed at Pura Comporta for a week in August and will absolutely return. The house is exactly as pictured online, effortlessly chic with finishes and decor you would not expect in a villa rental. It was the perfect size and layout for our group (2 couples and 3 children). The home was very clean, had all the needed amenities and the housekeeper was wonderful. She was very friendly, efficient and was able to get everything done while we were at the beach so that we didn't have to worry about the kids nap time schedules. She babysat for us a few evenings and was always punctual and was very kind and calm with our son when he woke up while we were out. She even found a friend to babysit for our sister's children who were staying in a home down the street.

The location of the home is one of its best features. It is just a short walk or drive from a beautiful beach that has chairs and umbrellas as well as a beach bar and an incredible restaurant, Sal. When we weren't at the beach we loved the pool and outdoor seating at the house, and spent many group dinners at the covered outside dining table. Our favorite aspect of the house was the front porch views of the sunset which we made sure to take advantage of every evening. During our stay we spent most of our time at the beach but also enjoyed many activities and restaraunts especially the ones recommended by the homes owner João.

Joao was incredible from the moment we booked. He was always quick to respond, provided a list of suggested activities and dining options, had a crib and bed rails ready for us at check in and helped us communicate with the babysit/housekeeper. We hope that João has a lot of success listing comporta luxe as it made our vacation special and helped us create wonderful memories in Comporta and we cannot...

We stayed at Pura Comporta from the 3rd to the 10th of May and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. Joao, the owner, was incredibly attentive and always responded quickly whenever we had a question or needed anything (both before and after), which made us feel very well taken care of throughout our stay. The house is beautiful, spacious, clean and well taken care of. The pool (with heating) and outside areas was sheltered from the wind, and we also had a couple of private yoga sessions in the mornings which were amazing!

A special mention must go to Ana, the housemaid, whose cooking was very good. The daily breakfasts were consistently delicious (with freshly squeezed orange juice, some local bread, ham and cheese etc), and the dinners we enjoyed at the house were excellent—especially the salt-baked fish, which was outstanding.

The location itself is unbeatable. It’s just a short walk to the beautiful beach with the amazing JNcQUOI beach club (absolutely recommended). One of the best golf courses in the world is only about 10 minutes away, which we played 3 days.

We had the pleasure of staying at Pura Comporta for a week in April. The pictures don't do the house justice -- it was a serene oasis and exactly what we needed to ease stress from work and city life. Ana, the woman who tends to the home, truly made our visit exceptional. She kept the place clean and tidy, brought us fresh bread and local produce daily, and is an amazing cook. We're already making plans to return next year!

It would have been helpful to have known prior to booking that there would be daily construction with a new home being built overlooking the pool and patio. We also expected Pura Comporta to be in Comporta, but it was a 15-minute drive to the town or a 45 minute walk on the beach. These weren't huge issues, but had we been given a heads up we would have adjusted expectations accordingly. That being said, the town of Comporta is simply magical. We fell in love with all the bright and unique shops and left with tons of gifts (mostly for ourselves) and lasting memories.
