Half of you will think it’s a chilled & great place and the other half will think it’s a bit of a nightmare. Destination Ericeira (not in Ericeira by the way) is definitely a hostel with large number people staying there. There is one half that don’t worry about a bit of mess and chaos. They are the ones who are not considerate of others i.e. leaving your dirty dishes in the sink overnight and thinking I will clean them in the morning but maybe not. The other half will see it’s dirty and when they open the fridge, it’s a total nightmare. It is a place for young surfers, who are pretty chilled. Even the volunteer workers say that they are shocked at some people and the way that they live there. Definitely it is not the place to bring your family and expect peace and quiet and some sleep after 10 at night. Any noise echoes through out the whole place. We took a double room with a private bathroom and we found that the room was very good. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and we had enough space. We enjoyed a dip in the swimming pool and to be able to sit outside and eat some food that we prepared in the kitchen. Don’t open the oven and expect to find clean the trays though, most quickly close the door. They provided a fridge in the room and a coffee maker, but unfortunately the cord is too short to reach the plug so you have to put the coffee maker on the floor by the door to use it. I don’t think they think about providing multi-socket for our multiple devices. There are many dormitory beds so there are a lot of people in the house and they enjoy telling surfing stories until late at night. There was a place to park our bicycles and to keep them secure, which is much appreciated when we are cycled touring. You definitely want to have a car to be able to get to the beaches and the supermarket. They do provide breakfast but we didn’t partake but it is being prepared at the same time as you are trying to use the kitchen to do your own breakfast, so be...

From the moment I stepped through the doors, this hostel felt different from any other I've experienced. The staff greeted me and helped me settle in with genuine warmth that made me feel instantly welcome.
Exceptional Staff: The team here deserves special recognition. Every staff member, from reception to housekeeping, strikes that perfect balance between professional service and friendly conversation.
A True Home Away From Home: Unlike typical hostels, this place has soul. The common areas are thoughtfully designed with comfortable seating arrangements that naturally encourage conversation among travelers. The kitchen is well-equipped and becomes a social hub in the evenings as guests prepare meals together.
The Pool, An Unexpected Luxury: After a day of surfing, the pristine pool area becomes the perfect retreat. Clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by comfortable loungers, It was the ideal place for me and my friends to cool off, relax and meet fellow travelers.
Surfer's Dream Location: We were a group of surf enthusiasts, the location couldn't be more perfect. Just a 2 minutes drive / 15 minutes walk to check the conditions, we would often be in the water a few minutes after waking up. The hostel even provides board storage and an outdoor shower to rinse off...
Read moreThis hostel is a really great place where you're sure to make friends! The people staying, volunteering and working there are so friendly and social, there is always someone to hang out with, go to the beach with, or go out with. The place itself is nice and well kept, not too big or crowded so it kind of just feels like you're staying in a big house with a bunch of housemates. The beach where you can surf and swim is a 15-20 minute walk away. The only downside is that it is a bit isolated, too far to walk to get to Ericeira town center, and even the closest supermarket is a 20 minute walk away. But it is still worth it, you just have to plan your food/grocery trips well :) My friend and I stayed in the camper van which was fun and a nice way to have a little privacy while still using the common areas in the...
